NFL Survival Pool

GB and TB are locks, but I'm leaning toward the Rams. I can't pull the trigger yet, but every time I think of Rex Grossman and Tim Hightower I get a little closer.

Billy, you're usually pretty level-headed. There's no such thing as a lock. If I used the term earlier, ignore my post.

Wait...you're leaning toward taking the Rams in a Survival Pool? I'm picking them to win, but there's no ****ing way I would take them as my Survival Pool pick.

I said leaning. It's my gambler chromosome barking at me. It's saying, "Get the Rams off the board, do it, do it." I think the Rams might win 4 games this season. But I don't want to have to figure out which lucky wins they are. The Redskins are a mirage. (See, my gambler chromosome has a hold of me even as I type this.)

You probably know this, but I am a Rams fan. When I looked at their opening schedule, I wrote them off as a team that would see .500. They can still win the division, but they're damn young. They shoot themselves in the foot at the exact wrong time (Bradford fumbling vs. Philly, Cadillac Williams standing there after dropping a lateral). They're close but they're still far away. The thing I worry about is what happened last week against Baltimore in that they took such a beating that I worry about them bouncing back. Getting the Redskins will be a nice test, which is why I picked them but even my innermost degenerate gambler is staying away from that Survival pick. The cajones it would take to make that pick are not onions, more like coconuts.

I wish I had you with me in Atlantic City last weekend. I was making all kinds of Rams bets at the blackjack tables and paying the price. I'll probably take Green Bay and move on.

Someone convince me to take the Bucs. I'd prefer to do that and save the Eagles. Because I still don't trust the Bucs and still think of them as, well, the Bucs. Plus, I don't like counting on a team that constantly has to win games in the last two minutes.

Un****ing real. That's the worst loss in the Andy Reid that I can remember. Your team still sucks Katie.
Epic fail by Philadelphia. And perhaps the best game in Smith's career. Maybe a defining moment for Harbaugh in turning the team around?

Dallas had a similar collapse after leading 27-3 over Detroit.

Glad I didn't touch either game.

Of course, now that I've posted, watch Painter have the game of his life and Tampa lose on Monday night.

Went safe with Green Bay.... process of elimination for you fools!
Not so simple if you look over the entire 17 weeks. Keep burning the obvious favorites and you may be left with a toss-up game one week. I wish I hadn't already used the NYG. Now I'll have to go with either NO on the road @ Carolina or Houston at home against Oakland. Neither of those is a lock. Carolina stayed within 1 TD of GB at home and Oakland has been suprisingly good. Losing to NE and @ Buffalo is nothing to be ashamed of. Raiders could surprise with that tough running game and with the injury to Johnson.

Guess I could take Detroit at home against Chicago. But the Lions have looked shaky in their miracle come-back wins against a horrible team in Minnesota and another team in Dallas that loves to collapse at the end.

But congrats. You cashed in on Arizona's only victory. That gives you an edge there.

They key to this in my opinion is just like Fantasy Football or even the NFL. Get there and you have a chance.

The NFL is a crapshoot once you make the playoffs. The 17-0 or whatever Patsies proved that as well as the #6 Seed Steelers and other teams that have won it all.

I figured (Outside of the Arizona pick vs. Carolina) to take the clear cuts and let 3/4 or more of the pool eliminate themselves. At that point I have only a handful of competitors to worry about. Also with these picks its truly a crapshoot anyways. Most teams any given Sunday can win vs. anyteam, thus the reason for the Dolphins in the 70s.

Seattle vs. NYG
NO @ Carolina
SD @ Denver

Can't remember what I have picked outside of Arizona, Pittsburgh, Green Bay so far.... will probably go with one of those 3 games with the likely the 1st game listed. Don't like Divisional games so that rules out SD @ Denver and hate picking road teams thus eliminates NO.

I thought both Green Bay and Philly were locks. I was saving Green Bay for their upcoming Rams game. I wrongly thought that San Francisco going cross country against the Iggles' defense would get handled. Little did I know the Dream Team would choke and gag like they did.

How old are you?

The G-Men look like the safe easy pick. Seattle is putrid on the road, especially on the east coast.
