Following Potential 2020 draftees

McDaniels has a chance to be an impact player on both sides of the ball, he can do some dynamic stuff with the ball in his hands.
I would draft McDaniels. I'd start him out in a role like Jerami Grant and see what he can do from there.

When defenses tighten up in the playoffs, it's nice to have a player who can take a dribble and step into an easy straight-away 18-foot jumper. It's always an option that's available. Guys like Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Durant, Kevin Garnett and Tracy McGrady, even Karl Malone, made a living doing this. I think that's what's most attractive about McDaniels' game right now. He can get an open look, with or without a screen.

OKC just traded Dennis Schroeder to the Lakers for the #28 pick. OKC could trade #25 + #28 to move up to #20 or #21. I think they're trying to get in position to draft Poku.

OKC is also taking back Danny Green's salary, reportedly.

From the speculation I've seen, OKC may need to pass Dallas at #18 and maybe even Sacramento at #12 to ensure that they can pick Poku.

Of course they have all kinds of additional draft capital to throw at a trade if they are bound and determined not to let anyone else have Poku.

Poku ain't gonna be there at #23 but if he somehow is you absolutely have to draft him. If I thought the Jazz had a realistic way to trade up, I would suggest it.

I think the Jazz could trade up. I think Dallas would offer Delon Wright, Dwight Powell and #18 for Mike Conley.
Jazz would then need to package #18 + #23 in a deal to get into the end of the lottery.

If we had 18 and 23 and netted Poku I’d be pissed.

That trade doesn't work. It's also a really steep price to grab a pick that late in a weak draft. Also, Poku is worth a roll of the dice if the cost is low since he could really bust, but that is no longer the scenario we're talking about.

Yeah they would. They like Conley, and they want a big expiring to clear cap for 2021.

The Lakers just got a very good PG for cheap.... The Mavs, like everyone else out west, are chasing the Lakers. Them paying way more for Mike Conley than the Lakers did for Schroder doesnt gain them any footing...

Why in the world would a team with Luka Doncic on his rookie deal trade for a massive contract older PG???

I dont think that makes much sense at all.. I dont follow the logic..

Powell ruptured his achilles. He's still rehabbing and is a dead-weight contract this year.
Mavs want to get rid of Delon Wright's contract, since he's not a good enough shooter.
Mavs like Conley as a skilled guard who can play on and off the ball next to Luka.
The Mavs also want to position themselves to chase Giannis in free agency and want an expiring deal like Conley's.
Jazz would be doing them a favor and might more likely be the party that declines the deal.
Taking those contracts back from the Mavs alone might warrant a FRP.

This is silly... The Mavs made the playoffs last year with an injured Porzingis... Their moves at this draft are gonna be about putting the best squad they can around Luka and Kristaps for a playoff run....... Mike Conley is not that guy... let alone throw in their 1st rd picks to make it happen..

This would be wild... I think I heard the Ringer NBA podcast mention this connection too.

That would be good for us (unless we were also secretly crushing on him). Portland has so often been assumed to be in the market for similar players to the ones we're after, so it might effectively "move us up" one spot.

Great. Let them trade back to #23 with us, so we can move up to #16.

I'm warming up to Desmond Bane even if he has unconventional mechanics and t-rex arms.

He is arguably the best shooter in the draft and can help right away. If he can be had at 23 you absolutely draft him.
