I've seen various polls, most of them showing more R distrust than D, but it's like 70/30, pretty large regardless of party.Proof that if you repeat a lie often enough, it will work. Will probably poison the body politic for quite awhile.
And more evidence that conspiracism is now the default thinking mode of many Americans. How can that possibly bode well? Rationality is of considerable value. It’s being trashed. It’s the age of conspiracy theories, and it’s going to cause a lot of damage.
The line from Timothy Snyder in my signature says it all where this **** is concerned. It’s not one sided, though. Trump might be selling it, but Trumpsters are buying what they want to hear.

Half of Republicans say Biden won because of a 'rigged' election: Reuters/Ipsos poll
About half of all Republicans believe President Donald Trump "rightfully won" the U.S. election but that it was stolen from him by widespread voter fraud that favored Democratic President-elect Joe Biden, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos opinion poll.www.reuters.com
Put it another way, a lot of people just won't vote. Most of them distrust politics or don't care at all, and have no vested loyalty to defend in asserting "fair" elections. Likely doubters with little force of conviction. Who the hell cares.
Might be the same 30% of Dems that didn't vote even this time. And the same 30% of Rs that didn't vote either.
Committed visionary wonks on both sides will always vote, and will always blame the other side for cheating if they lose, like the Resistance wonks did in 2016. That's 20% of the voters on both sides.
The difference is independents and Dems with traditional American values, and Republican moderates pretty much the same.
Oh, well, maybe there's a bunch of unhinged perps with no rhyme or reason, and who can say what they do. No reason at all.
I think the fixed belief in "conspiracy theory" people is just an insult to anyone who still has a functioning cerebral cortex. All you need to be an agenda wonk or a true blue believer is a cerebellum. And all it takes to convince a "Cerebellar intellect" that a "Conspiracy Theorist" is out there in the trailer trash town is one professor with a dope on his rope.
