In case there's anybody still on the "bUt TheRe oNly sEcOnD rOunDerS~" trash:

We got Jordan Clarkson with two second rounders and didn't even send an expiring contract. We just dumped twice the draft capital to correct the ledger and probably still didn't hit the target.
Sure, but you also have to break down what kind of 2nd's they are. Not all 2nd rounders have equal value.

We just gave away a pick in 2027. Anyone have any idea what the Jazz gonna look like by then? I don't think the FO has a clue themselves. They just had their eyes fixed on saving that 300k

Still can’t believe Shaq still out there
Because teams in modern day basketball always prioritize perimeter/wings. What Shaq brings seem valuable to us but redundant to other teams. Not even the Knicks or Hornets would name a two way G leaguer their best perimeter defender on the team.

A second rounder that can be redeemed for a player is always greater than a second rounder you don’t have.
Sure, but picks in the 50's are worth way less than those in the 40's, and even less than those in the 30's.

I would like to see some kind of chart that has what all the picks that were dealt were.

Yeah in 2027 Bojan is gonna be 38, Rudy 35, Favs 36, Joe 40. And our replacement for these guys are? Our roster currently is not constructed to compete past 2023. I can tell you that much.

Dan Clayton or Ken Clayton track it... basically we have the GS second rounder next year and our own second rounders in 2025 and 2026.... all others from now until 2027 are gone... so we are net -4 next 7 years.

And, again if that transaction got us all the way out of the tax or got us within waiving one guy of ducking the tax then I wouldn’t be scratching my head. We will be hitting the repeater tax in a couple years and that will be the big punitive money issue. Not sure why we wouldn’t have planned to miss it this year and then start the clock.

That GSW one could end up being a pretty good pick next draft.

We can just duck the tax then by trading Joe or even Bojan and start rebuild. This whole tax thing just isn't worth it unless you are contending instead of first round exit then repeat

And if those guys aren’t worth the salary they are owed what will we use to grease the wheels? We are low on seconds and don’t have a handjob guy anymore.
