NFL Talk

You are that confident that that they will win in San Francisco late in the season? I think the Niners will win that game. It certainly not the easy win you make it out to be with what you said.

I'm assuming your lack of response to my challenge of a $500 bet means you're not very confident in the Niners. No surprise. I wouldn't have any confidence either if I were you.

As a Cowboy hater, you couldn't ask for a better QB than Romo. The guy prances around the sidelines with his hat on backwards looking like some smug douche with 3 rings.

The media wants to make this guy a winner so bad; but it ain't happening.

Who is better the NFC South? Carolina Panthers, the worst team in the division, have nearly beat many good teams (including the Packers). They have the 2nd best team in the NFL (Saints), a top 10 ten team (Bucs), and a team that should be top 10, but is slumping (falcons).

I would say the NFC North is the best division right now. Not saying it will end this way but if you compare the teams, I think the North edges out the South.

Packers > Saints
Lions > Bucs
Bears > Falcons (based only on the Bears destroying them in week 1)
Vikings < Panthers

Basically if you line up the divisions from top to bottom the only advantage the South has is Carolina over Minnesota. Not to mention the North has the only 2 undefeated teams remaining.

What are the odds Alex Smith redeems his career this year?

If ever there was a year for him to break out, this is it. I was stoked that Harbaugh was taking over, and he hasn't disappointed me. I think he has shown that he knows how to get the best out of a QB. Don't get me wrong - Luck is incredibly talented anyway, but Harbaugh maximized it. Smith is not nearly as physically gifted as Luck, but he's similar in that he is a very intelligent QB. Hopefully his O-line likes the taste of winning.

I'll give you Packers over Saints (hurts to say)
Bucs may be better than Lions. Yes Lions have the flash of high scoring, but Freeman and The Bucs just get wins.
Bears over Falcons now, but legitimately think the Falcons are going to have a comeback period. They have much more talent than the Bears.
And yes, The Vikings are fing terrible.

The Autumn Wind Is a Raider.

Here I thought Tampa Bay would be a tough opponent. The 49ers are currently up 31-3 in the 3rd quarter. Totally dominating this game. Looks like next will will be the big test with the 49ers visiting Detroit. Should be a good game next week.

49ers win!! Final score 48-3 in a total beatdown of Tampa Bay. Record now improves to 4-1 for the first time since 2002, and head to Detroit next week. Alex Smith finished with a line of: 11 of 19 for 170 yards, three TDs, no INTs, and a passer rating of 127.2. Tied his career high in TD passes. Oh and he was pulled from the game with about 9 minutes left since the Niners were so far ahead. Jim Harbaugh has to be the leading candidate for Coach of the Year. It feels so good to finally have a real coach. It's going to be a fun season.

*Edit* One more note. The "Dream Team" in Philly is now 1-4!! HAHA!!

Katie, please shut [edit] up. [edit] I could care less about the Eagles. I really could. I am far from a gung ho fan. But your cheerleading is nauseating. [edit]

And for the record, some guy named Schwartz could be the leading candidate for Coach of the Year too.

I agree.

Did you forget that division winners automatically make the playoffs? Did you also forget a Seattle team with a record of 7-9 won the NFC West last season? Did you also forget that the 49ers at this point lead the NFC west by 2 full games, only 4 games into the season? The 49ers are easily the best team in the NFC West right now, and still have 5 divisional games remaining. How you can say the 49ers will be out the of the playoff picture by that point is beyond me.
That's a good point. Arizona and St Louis already look dead in the water. Seattle had a great upset win over the NYG (thanks, Seattle for eliminating 5 more in the Survivor game), but are still 2 down. SF SHOULD win the division (can't believe I actually said that). Pittsburgh certainly does not have a "gimme" win @ SF by any stretch.

This is an NFL thread. I see no reason to be nasty just because someone refused a $500 bet. Or if someone is excited by a win. I imagine there are a ton of Ute fans who are pleased Smith is FINALLY having a good season. C'mon, even if I had the money to lose, I wouldn't bet $500 on a game. And certainly not against someone in this forum. Besides, SalmonHobo, aren't you proposing something illegal? To my knowledge, we haven't disagreed on much, but I think you're way out of line here.

I don't agree with KatieMCR's lifestyle choice, but it's no reason to attack or make a couple of "cleverly?" veiled innuendos liked "didn't have the balls," "shaking your pom poms around" or "the effeminate way you sashay into this post."

Katie deserves to gloat, even if the Niners might break her heart in upcoming weeks. She's been through all the 9er ups and mostly downs since I've been on the board. Definitely not a fair weather fan there.

Maybe it was because Salmon's having a rough weekend with his Eagle's and Noles' sucking eggs. Not that I can say much as the best I can say is at least my Phins didn't lose on their a bye week, but then again maybe the did.

Good gravy I hate Antonio Cromartie. I blame this loss on him.

While the game was probably already lost, that whiffed tackle attempt on Benjarvis Green-Ellis late in the game was unforgivable.

I hope the local media beats the hell out of him for that one.

Good weekend of football for me and happy the Steelers turned it around. I was worried about the Titans coming in and worried that all these injuries would put them in a hole to dig out of. That still can happen but they looked impressive. Roethlisberger was only sacked 1 time because they got the running game going with Redman (Bowie State anyone?) and Dwyer (Who had not carried yet this season). Big Ben threw for 5 TD's and really on offense they could not be stopped.

On defense they looked great stopping the runa nd being the defense of old. Outside of the long 1st drive that resulted in 3 points they looked solid all the way around. Woodley woke up and got pressure off the edge.

Next week is a big game! Need to move to 4-2 to keep pace with the Ravens
