What's new

Video Game Thread

Well, I've now played through Dark Souls twice, and am probably done with it for a while.

Battlefield 3 comes out tomorrow, and I still haven't played any Batman: Arkham City. Those two should keep me occupied for a while. Then there's Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 coming out in three weeks.

What are y'all playing nowadays?

I beat Uncharted finally. It's only been out for like 5 years so I figured I would finally plow through the rest that had been unfinished. I don't like that game as much as the reviewers did.

Well I pre-purchased Battlefield 3 for PC. Been banging my head against the wall the last couple days trying to get it to launch the game. Haven't played a second of it yet and it's starting to really piss me off.

I've been playing a stupid amount of 2k12. This is the most I have played any video game since Halo 1 when I was in 9th grade.

I bought it when it came out but wanted to play through Rage before starting Dark Souls as I figured it would occupy all my gaming time. It is weird being all one big open world changes the way you (well I) play and taking adjustment for me for sure. My only real complaint so far is big ol' swords or whatever melee weapons going through walls or even multiple walls (tight corners) and like you said the timing of the slower pyro firel.

Playing BF3 on PS3. Gotta say, so far it's pretty good. Haven't really jumped into the campaign yet, but the multiplayer is fun. Wish they would up the server size to 32 or 36 people.

Ok does anyone have any suggestions for a MMORTS game similar to Civilization? I played Evony until I was one of the top 10 on my server (18 mill prestige, army of over 20 mill troops, 9 cities, etc. etc.) and it just got so tedious I had to quit. I have tried a few others but most are either too detailed so they get boring or they are set up so that if you don't play 24/7 you get wiped out by bigger players. Any suggestions?

I've started playing it as well, just over the weekend.

I was really good at BFBC2, got to the max rank of 50 and all that, but I'm having a harder time with this one. It may be just the adjustment period of learning the levels and weapons. I think probably the main thing that's screwing with me is that tapping the fire button no longer makes for greater accuracy... guns seem to have a lot more kick in general now, making the aiming a lot harder. The knife animations also annoy me... there have been all to many times when I've gone to stab someone and ended up just hitting air. But so far I'm digging the Support class the most... big-*** LMGs and C4 for the win!

BTW, if you do want more people on the multiplayer maps, just get the PC version if your machine can handle it. The maximum players for PS3 or 360 is 24 people (12 to a side)... but for PC it's 64 people (32 to a side). The maps are also bigger to compensate... a lot of the areas that are "out of bounds" on console versions are in-bounds for PC.

Oh, and from what I hear, the Campaign really isn't very interesting, anyway. I'm not planning on playing it at all... the only mode I plan on playing is Rush.

I didn't realize other people can come into your game on Dark Souls and kill you without you knowing it. Some mother ****er came into my game last night and I had no idea it was a human controlled player chasing me around. Creepiest video game experience I've ever had.

Hehe, yeah, that's one of the basic features of the game. If you want to avoid it, you can stay in hollow form, or just play offline. Invasions can be really annoying, especially if you're just getting started.

There are a couple of invaders that are actually computer-controlled, though, just to give offline players something of the same experiences. There's about five of them, and they always have the same names and show up in the same locations.

Welp, 11 days until Skyrim comes out, and until I bolt myself in my house for a few weeks on end.

Yeah, I used to PC game quite a bit, and was big into BF2. I haven't really been into the PC gaming the last few years (since I started working from home and started having kids). I just spend too much time on a PC for work.

I'm with you though, the guns def have more recoil, tougher to get vehicle kills, etc etc. I think it actually might be a little more realistic and will take some time to get used to. In BF2 and most other shooters my K/D ratio is always positive and I am like .80 right now. Have some work to do!

Drake Uncharted 3 is pretty dang cool. I'm on chapter 14 right now and I wish I had more time to play it.

I saw this today and I thought it was pretty dang cool too.

Do you guys use any of those game trading sites? I don't collect games so they've been good to me recently. I think I've got it down to the point where I can pretty much buy 1 game of value and just trade my way into better or equal items so I don't have to buy any games any more. The only cost is a couple $$ of shipping every time I get rid of a game. Although of course those sites work on a trust basis so the potential to get ripped off is always there. Beats trading into game stores anyhow.
