What's new

Positive tweets on the lockout Oct 27th

Another iso-shooter like Jamal Crawford isn't really going to help the Heat. A hungry Steve Nash, on the other hand... What could the Suns even get in return though?

Nash, LBJ, and Wade combo would be interesting. Nash would probably just wind up being a glorified spot up 3pt shooter most of the time though.

If I were Nash, I would say, I'll play for you if you give me a buck for each dime I get. He'd be the highest paid player in the NBA that way.
So if Nash demolished Stockton's single season assist record and averaged 25 assists/game, at a dollar per assist, he'd make $2,000. Not worth it...

I get to up my viewing quotient this year (slightly) by having NBA TV as well as the usual national channels. I'm very excited.

Is it just me, or does anyone else think all this optimism could be the owners way of setting up the players to give in? With optimism comes expectations that a deal could (and should) get done soon, which could ultimately just be the owners way of putting more pressure on the players to give in to their demands. I'm definitely more optimistic today than I was a week ago, but if the owners are as crude as some of them are made out to be, it wouldn't surprise me if they now went for the jugular and if a deal doesn't get done just throw all the blame on the players.

I would hope and pray that reason would dictate today's negotiations, and not emotion/greed/ego.

One hint that NBA is planning for 82-game season: League is asking arenas to hold open dates in late April, acc to arena officials.

I hadn't heard that there was still hope for an 82 game season and I'm not sure that I like that idea. Do we really want to see a bunch of extra games played in April/May and then watch a bunch of tired/sloppy playoff basketball?

Although, the flip side to that is it might help the Jazz make a run at the playoffs as a 7 or 8 seed. Considering how young this team is going to be, if they stay healthy (huge knock on wood) I would have to guess they're going to look much better in April than they will in November. Perhaps more games in the spring would be a good thing for them.

However, if you're an older team like the Spurs, it's probably a horrible idea.

Maybe, but then why was Billy Hunter equally optimistic?

I think they're sincere. Only plausible thing I see in the 'reach' is the owners giving false hope to te players, letting them taste it, then re-starting the negotiations.
Having said that, I think both sides are being sincere.

This may be the only way we get to play in May. I see it as great for the Jazz if Ty is like Jerry and play veterans over rookies, then hopfully our older guys will get gased out leaving no option but to play the young guns.

It isn't like they're all getting worn out right now. I don't see what adding time to the schedule to accommodate 82 games does to make the old guys more tired than they would be at the end of the previously scheduled 82 game season. It's not like the changing of the seasons makes them start to hibernate.
