NON-JAZZ NBA PLAYOFF thread

Embiid has a meniscus tear that they're treating as 'day to day'. Not doing surgery at this point because doing so would effectively end their season.

Anyone that has had a knee injury like that knows that you can't really manage it effectively (much less a pro basketball player).
With meniscus I think you can play through it... will he be good enough to help them win a title? Nah.

Better hope the Bucks beat the Nets. Looking waaaayyy ahead... that’s the only team I feel strongly that we can’t beat unless they have injury issues.

I sprained my MCL (similar to meniscus tear) in my early 20s skiing. It took me a solid 6-8 weeks before I felt comfortable playing basketball. Granted, Embiid's level of care is world-class and is getting 24/7 treatment, but best case scenario I'd say he's still a month away from feeling comfortable making cuts / basketball related movements.

What’s funny is the Clippers might’ve tanked to avoid the Lakers and now it looks like they might get run in the 1st round, and the Clippers are now in a dog fight with Dallas. I love it!!!

People seem to forget that Love was averaging 26 PPG and 13 rebounds before joining LBJ.

Everywhere he's went since his first stint with Cleveland has been super teams. To act like he's accomplished anything without a super team is flat out false.
Making it to the 2007 Finals with THAT team is arguably the greatest achievement in basketball history.

If the only measure of achievement is winning rings, then we are all fans of an absolute loser.

Yeah... Not too impressive when you play the Wizards that had little to nobody, the Nets who had little to nobody, and a decent but not great Pistons team. It's pretty obvious why they were swept and didn't even put up a fight by the only good team they played in SA.

Alright dude, you're just a hater. That's fine, but that's your entire argument at this point.

Those Pistons teams very good bordering on great (with Ben Wallace, they were great). He beat them by himself.

Show me a worse supporting cast that made it to the finals.

That team was so bad... I think it was like Boobie Gibson and Larry Hughes with smatterings of Varajao and Big Z (ain't spelling his name).

Lebron is great. He's done things that are hard... not sure why people think he just skated along. The team Jordan had was stacked too... Pippen, Kukoc, Rodman were all great players... they had great role players too. Some of the Lakers teams with Kobe were super stacked. You really can't win a title yourself.

The very few bad moments Lebron has had over a LOOONNNNGGGG career is crazy. I get he isn't perfect but dude has had a media microscope on him since he was in like junior high.

His greatest blemish is that he decided to stack his own team, and again, who honestly can blame him? Those Cavs teams in his first tenure - even the improved ones at the end - were not awesome. Who was his best teammate in that entire span? I'm pretty sure it was Mo Williams.

Mo. Williams.

Jordan whined about Jerry Krause but the fact of the matter is he hit homeruns almost every time at bat. Those Bulls teams were absolutely stacked in both of the three-peat years, and most of that talent came because of his moves. Does Jordan get extra credit for being lucky?

Lebron's greatest accomplishments - taking a bunch of non-NBA players to the finals and coming back from 3-1 AGAINST THE TEAM WITH THE BEST REGULAR SEASON RECORD EVER - best any of MJ's greatest accomplishments. And I'm not hating on MJ at all. I probably still put him ahead of Lebron for his peerless, undaunted, almost pathological quest to win in any and every situation. But this is the conversation that should surround Lebron most of the time at this point; is he the greatest player of all-time or not?

But, right, he sometimes isn't absolutely perfect all the time.

He's gonna end his career with maybe as many rings as Michael and the #1 scorer of all-time, despite that he's more Magic.

It's not that he's not perfect or that he hasn't done things that are hard.

He has full-on given up multiple times in the playoffs. Yesterday's game is one example. His last year during his first run with the Cavs is another example.

His greatest blemish IS NOT stacking teams. It is quitting on his team multiple times during the playoffs.

Does it mean he sucks as a player? no. Does it mean he hasn't been arguably the best player in the NBA ever? no. Does it mean he has quit on his team? yes.

What if he had the poopies yesterday? They still might pull the series out. I'm not sure he has "quit" on these guys. The Cleveland stuff is valid... but he was so damned young and we don't know everything that happened there. I just think he's done as good as anyone could in his position... I think he has maximized his potential. Tough to do.

Time for a little comic relief

It’s not comic relief, though, especially the last one. That was the playoffs, wasn’t it? There’s a natural defense of the situation and the power structure of things like “yeah, Duncan must have done something,” or “Crawford wouldn’t have just done it for no reason or just to be petty, he’s a professional,” only to find out at some point Crawford challenges Duncan to a ****ing fight.

People like to drag these guys down way way too much. They just start looking for little flaws and blow them up into a giant issue. No one is perfect, but Lebron has been great.

Heaven forbid sports fans criticize sports figures. Never happened before LeBron came along, I'm sure.

LeBron is possibly the best basketball player in the history of the game. Second time I said that.

Sorry for dragging him down way too much.

Heat last year and it's not even close.

I had a small meniscus tear once. It didn't require surgery, but my knee swelled up with fluid, needed to be drained, and I had a brace and was on crutches for close to 2 weeks. If he really tore his meniscus, he should be done for this series at least.

I’m happy to take on anyone that helps the team, even heels. The problem with Ainge is he did a bad job. Maybe a historically bad job. He built this incredible horde of assets and absolutely wasted them after 2017. Part of that, as I understand it, is that other execs didn’t want to work with a dude more interested in winning every trade instead of making an effort to be equitable in his dealings.

Add that to our FO who already have too many cooks in the kitchen and badly bungled last off-season on the margins (about as bad as they could’ve, even if on the margins), and this idea makes less than no sense.
Did he do a bad job?

If Hayward doesnt get hurt, everything changes.
