NON-JAZZ NBA PLAYOFF thread

I just don't see any way the Suns last more than 5 games against the Jazz.

The Jazz won't make the same mistake the Lakers did, and leave Booker in single coverage. Double off of CP3. If CP3 scores in his injured state, so be it.

They ain't letting Booker beat them.

The Jazz will beat the Suns in 5 games. I'm more worried about the Nuggets than the Suns.
When have we ever shut down scoring guards? If we double Booker then he’s going to find someone else wide open. IMO, you don’t shut them down, you outscore them.

I think Mitchell vs Booker is going to be a wash.

It’s going to come down to the “other” guys. Does Rudy dominate Ayton? Does Conley outplay Paul? Do Jingles, Bogie, Clarkson outplay their guys?

I don’t know how many games that series would go. But I can’t imagine we take them out in 5. Seeing what happens to Denver will be a good barometer on how good Phx is.

Dude... it’s like you didn’t watch any of the jazz-suns games... and like you don’t know anything about how Booker plays + what the jazz defense is designed to surrender.

I ****ing guarantee the jazz would not dispatch the Suns in less than 6 games. That series has 7 written all over it.

Was CP3 healthy for those games? Yes.

Is he healthy now? CLEARLY NO.

I'd be really worried if CP3 was fully healthy. Devin Booker by himself isn't beating Utah.

EDIT: Look I respect Phoenix for what they've done this year. But Ayton, Bridges, Booker, and Johnson are still in their first playoffs. Utah has WAY more experience, and has all of its players fully healthy. Ayton, by the way, has a shoulder issue, maybe even similar to CP3s, because of how LeBron bumped him last night.

If Utah is really the team this board thinks they are, they can and SHOULD beat this Suns team in 5 games.

Tom Brady “lost to Foles.” Lol.

I love it when fans say stupid stuff and then turn around and scoff when players—especially the ones who are under an enormous amount of public pressure, the likes of which a fan will never experience—say or do stupid stuff.

The biggest mistake sports fans make is the assumption that the superstars they follow are balanced human beings. They ain’t balanced.

How’s Conley doing right now?

I thought I was losing my mind until you came into these threads. Thank god.

Ok then. And you’re also assuming that—unlike Conley—CP and Ayton don’t undergo the human process of healing. Gotcha.
Ayton actually has had that injury all year. He initially got it against James Johnson in a game earlier in the year against Dallas, and reaggrivated it against Milwaukee.

LeBron hit him in the same shoulder last night.

Odds are Ayton will be fine, but it could always flare up.

CP3 though... You can't tell me hes gonna be healthy after watching him every game against the Lakers in the first round, I'm sorry. He has more than just a stinger. To me that looks like a AC joint issue, or even possibly a separated shoulder.

Conley goes beyond all of that. He’s had hamstring issues for TWO seasons.

I think your assumptions have piled up pretty high against you. Time to check them.

Jazz injuries? Healable
Suns injuries? Not healable

got it?

btw, didn’t the Suns sweep us this year?
We have the best training staff in the world doe!

I'm more worried that the Clips rally... Suns are good but making it to the WCF is huge... it will justify keeping this thing together. I think we have a really good shot to beat the suns... probably fair to assume CP and Mike will both be limited in the series at some point.

If we can get past the second round... and if Milwaukee can beat Brooklyn... then I think we have a legit shot at a title which I wasn't really sure we did much of the season. There is a glimmer of light and a path... hopefully we are healthy enough to give it a good shot.

It sucks to say but Denver Nuggets I don't know how a basketball fan can't love that team. Jokic out here controlling the nba and he the everyday Man.

Which team from remaining ones won a championship before? 76ers, Bucks and Dallas? I say there is very decent chance we will have a first time NBA champ this year,
Dallas going out in 5 but Jazz. Luka good but he still years away from beating a good team. The clippers not a good team and never have been. Jazz going then get the nuggets which I be nervous a little if they was completely healthy but with the injuries jazz sweep that team. Jokic looks burnt and Gobert will own him. Need someone to knock nets off in east

Honestly, the Mavs scare me more than the Clips. Mostly because Luka is the 2nd most complete player in the league right now (after the Greek Freak). The good news is, he really has nobody else around him to help out. The Unicorn has turned out to be a donkey with a twig superglued to his forehead.

Here is my random spattering of playoff thoughts for now:

- I'd rather face the Mavericks because, even though I think we'd beat both, the Clippers have a much higher ceiling on beating us if they peak at the right time or figure out how to exploit us.

- Beating the Clippers, however, would be much more satisfying.

- I didn't want to play Phoenix, but with Paul looking the way he does, it doesn't scare me nearly as much. However, if they get past Denver, it means that Paul is healthy enough to cause problems, so it's quite the conundrum.

- The first time we played Phoenix was very early in the season. The second time was a let down and I think the third time we didn't have either Mitchell or Conley (could be wrong on that, but we were missing at least one of them). They definitely kill us in the mid-range and also off the lob to Ayton. If CP3 is hobbled some with health and it takes away him looking for his own shot, that solves a huge part of the problem we'd face and it could allow Gobert to stay home more on Ayton. I'm not afraid of Booker by himself.

- We didn't have Bojan last series and Denver wouldn't have Murray, so I'd feel more confident there. However, I'd be a bit concerned on Porter Jr. lighting us up from three and hitting 50% for the series. What was Denver's defensive rating this year? Obviously they let Donovan go nuclear, but they wouldn't have a way to stop us on offense. Unless Porter steps up into a two-man game with Jokic, Rudy hopefully can better contain him if there's less focus elsewhere. We could even just abandon the rim-protection strategy and have Rudy play Jokic the same way we had Rudy guard KAT last year on the perimeter.

- Go Bucks.

- They're already trying to asterisk this title. Unless it's Brooklyn, of course.

Apart from matchups problems against the Clippers I also don'twant them because it would mean that they overcome losing first two games and after that winning two games facing elimination. It could really give them a confidence boost.
