Jazz Offseason Plan

I'm interested in the two Summer League team concept. I'm wondering if Quin went to the powers that be and said our bench is horrible it has to be upgraded. So summer league could be like the Hunger Games with the survival of the fittest.

Favors and two 2nds for Muscala and dort. Saves us cash, gets us a bull dog and makes us more athletic while not taking away any shooting.

Winslow just hasn't been able to stay healthy, he flashed potential in Miami. Plus there's a connection there cause his rookie season was Wade's last year with the team. He's not a great shooter but he's an athletic, versatile defender with some playmaking ability. I'd go hard after Dunn as well, he's young and a pest defensively. Sell both guys on the idea that they can get paid next summer if they help us get over the hump. And assuming we bring back Conley both he and Joe should be on load management so they will get plenty of minutes in the regular season.

I'd also love Otto Porter or Nic Batum with the MLE. Try to swing a trade of Favors, #30, and a future draft asset for Larry Nance Jr.
I like all three of the moves. Is Porter healthy besides doesn't he play the same position as Winslow. Batum can play multiple positions. Moving Favors opens up backup minutes for Udoka.

I think our price limit with Mike will be about 2/45M or 3/60M maybe third year only partially guaranteed. I would think NY would have to go a bit higher unless they love the city (doesn't seem like that would be his scene but who knows). State and city taxes are wild in NY and cost of living is bonkers. It's also a worse basketball situation and I can't think of a worse coach to work with a guy that has a hamstring condition.

So if NY gets wild and goes 3/75M - 90M or something then they can have him I guess. I think it'd be short sighted to pay an aging guy that much and mess up your cap situation. Would think they'd have better uses of cap space but it is NY so maybe they get dumb with it.
Why would anyone give him that kind of money after what happened in Utah. He has made his money if he wants 20 million a year then it has been nice knowing you Mike. He cannot stay healthy. I really hope the Jazz do not re-sign him for anymore than 12 to 14 million.

DL really needs to get some love. The entire FO deserves it. Losing in the second round this year hurt. Even when we made it to the WCF back in 2007 we didn't have the best record in the league. We did this year.

Don't through the baby out with the bath water....

We absolutely run it back and enjoy being one of the best teams in the NBA. Yeah this year broke open for us at the end, expect for the Clippers. The Sun's and the Clips have been the toughest match up's for this season. We also had to see the Bulls.

This is a beautiful basketball team and has as good a shot as anyone of winning. We are being giving fluid, intelligent, team focused winning basketball. What we pay for in fandom is very much worth it's value for the first time really in 14 years.

Don't let disappointment take your hoops joy. Let's run it back.

Winning in the regular season, never winning in the playoffs when it matters. Wasting 2nd round pics, man crush on Bradley, we can't afford to run it back we have fatal flaws that DL did not address

Interesting idea. I'd probably like it if we took out Hayward and Ingles.

It would be so weird to have Hayward back. I also can't see Joe being traded... he's worth more to us than anyone else. Only way he gets moved is if he got hurt and basically retired and we used the salary to match deals... like what happened with Okur.

Unless Ainge is given the keys to the franchise I don't see Rudy getting moved.

Yeah, like I said before, I could see that trade working much better if we kept Joe and they kept Hayward.

Well, Ingles 100% not getting traded in the off-season. He’d retire, I’m pretty certain about that.

I think he'd still try and get his 14M. He might likely show up and then just dog it most the year. I think he's ready to go back to Australia.

Which is why I think we give this roster one more go if we can convince Mike to stay. If we can't get over the hump, next off-season Joe retires and we trade Conley, Bojan, Rudy, whoever is left.

If Hayward actually bought in and played his roll on the team, I'd be all over this trade. It's time for the Rudy Gobert experiment to move on and this trade compensates the Jazz pretty well.

I don’t think Rudy can even be traded until October because of his extension. He will be moved during the season or next offseason at the earliest.

we are basically looking at a few things:

-Mike is either back or gone. If he’s gone hopefully we got something. I think he’s back.

-trading Favs, JC, or Bojan to help retool and balance the budget. Might be combined with our first on draft night.

-a minimum pickup of a vet or two. I don’t think we use the taxpayer MLE if we bring back Conley... maybe if we find a home for one of the other guys or if an amazing opportunity presents itself.

Moving Favs would be the most ideal. At least we could see what Dok has and Favs is the least contributing of the three to the team. He is making 9.72M this year so that would help the luxury tax considerably. We’d basically be running it completely back with Dok in the rotation instead of Favs.

I wonder if Mike let's us know soon if he's leaving or if he waits until the suitors can woo him. Knowing before the draft could be helpful.
