Jazz Offseason Plan

Yeah they also traded Bledsoe and Hill with two extra first round pick swaps. Imagine if we did that.

Conley wouldn’t have missed any games if they let Donovan play Game 1 which we then sweep and him pulling his hammy doesn’t happen in Game 5 because there is no Game 5. Like we are seriously going to rag on a guy for getting injured? Look at Chris Paul for an example. Guess we shouldn’t want him because he always gets injured.
I didn't like the trade from the start because Conley doesn't compliment Don in playoff situations.

I only bring up the injury information because it's relevant. If you don't play, you can't help the team. And there is already speculation that Conley might have could have gone and that led to team frustration and maybe Don frustration. But we'll never know.

“Would you flip Donovan for Dame right now”
Zach Harper: another Yes.

Seems like the answer from those around the league is a resounding YES you do that deal if it’s available.
I don't think they are giving the question all that much thought though. You want to swap player for player... great... but its more than just a jersey swap.

I agree that it would be a step back for the regular season. Of course it will be.

But what happens to Rudy's production if Conley leaves without us getting anything back? I believe that Rudy's offensive contribution will fall considerably without a true PG. And I'm a Don homer, but I acknowledge that he isn't a prototypical PG. He'll get better, but he's not going to bring out the best in Rudy.

And we talk about the next couple years, but what about Rudy's really bad extension years when he alone is taking up 30%+ of our cap number and he's aging and even more of a liability?

I think Don is more optimistic about taking a small step back now but have the franchise built around him with a brighter future than worrying about being a late playoff seed.
You’re wrong. Donovan is invested in HIM winning a championship not just the Jazz, he won’t accept taking a step back, he’ll ask for a trade next offseason.

Again the Donovan for Lillard trade makes zero sense for us unless Donovan wanted out and we had a sign-and-trade ready with Conley for a really nice piece. Otherwise Conley leaving and swapping Donovan for Lillard makes us considerably worse.
This is absolute and pure DELUSION

Judging by literally everything every local reporter says, the Jazz are on the clock, and taking a step back isn’t an option BECAUSE they are on the clock with Donovan and anything less than being a contender is not an option. This is widely reported by literally every local reporter.

It's ****ing insane how much DL has been skipping steps with his PG rentals. The jazz have the audacity to comparing themselves to following the Spurs model of success to then Warriors model to the Raptors to next year the Suns or Bucks... The Jazz have had every major ingredient you'd want for years, but they keep ****ing it up. Unfortunately acquiring Conley was a major **** up- that depleted way too many resources. He kept digging the jazz into a hole this year by screwing up around the edges and going over the cap- was the dude just cashing it in? wtf?
Going back to the George Hill trade... how do you do that trade without an extension basically agreed upon... especially when you held your cap space in an effort to do a team friendly deal? No extension then no trade. We ended up sitting on cap space for nothing... that asset just expired. That's the stuff that bothers me. I'm fine with trading in picks for players... but the process needs to be thought out and the plan needs to be executed. We ended up getting Ricky because that is who Gordon wanted. What kind of thought process is that?

I mean, I dont think anyone thought George Hll would ball out so hard in the first 15 games or so to the point where he got super contract greedy.

Then it was the whole weird thing were he fired his agent and hired some random person who had no NBA clients.

YOU DONT HAVE TO LOSE CONLEY TO MAKE THIS TRADE.

Dude Conley isn’t re-signing here with Lillard. Like I said above if you would ****ing read, unless we are trading Conley for a solid starting piece this trade makes us worse.

People should realize that perhaps we did pursue some of these guys like Craig and Tucker but they did not want to play in Utah for obvious reasons. I’m not saying every one of them, but it’s very possible that was the case. That they said no or that they said, I want to be on Milwaukee or Phoenix first and if those don’t work out, I’ll sign with that Jazz.

I mean, let’s be honest. The racial **** that’s happened here the last couple seasons doesn’t help. And if I’m a black guy, I probably am not running to Utah as my first or second choice.
I mean both Tucker and Craig were traded, which means they did not have a say in where they wanna play. If they are stars like Kyrie or Dame, then maybe. But I'm not sure guys like Craig get to decide who they wanna play for anyways.

It’s hilarious, a Dame Lillard trade would not happen until the season got under way. You would literally already have Mike signed. Are you extremely dense? And yes I think Mike would be quite okay playing with Dame Lillard. Hell Jordan Clarkson’s brother posted a photoshop of Dame in a Jazz uniform wanting it badly like a week ago lol.

Lol I was pissed when Hill turned down the 4/80M contract extension. Dude ****ing balled out here.

I'd rather this happen than trade Donovan for Dame and then have Dame ask out again next year... if you think Don won't accept a stepback think about Dame. Only reason he hasn't demanded out is he's trying to think of how to breakup with Portland and maintain his loyal brand identity.

If Don asked out next year we'd get such a huge haul for him that it would help sooth some of the pain... don't get me wrong... it sucks... but it sucks worse to string us out and then leave when we can't get anything back.

I promise you, there ain’t a soul on the roster who wouldn’t love this beautiful picture to become reality

Let’s trade Conley, Bogey and however many first round picks it takes to get Lillard then at that point.

Who said take a step back with Dame? Hell no you wouldn’t, you would go absolutely all in, huge tax for a year or two and then rebuild. It’s what you’re staring at right now with Donovan in a couple years, idk why that’s so difficult to understand.
