Jazz Offseason Plan

I wonder if NO would do the Bojan/#30 for Bledsoe/#10. I really think the hate went too far on that guy and he's in a terrible situation in NO. He's lived and done really well in the paint... this year his rim shooting was way down... plays with Zion, Adams, and no other real floor spacers.

If we brought Mike back you then look to move JC for something. Or you do the Kuzma trade with Mike I guess. Hope you hit a homerun at #10 (even though odds still kinda suck).

I hope we are working on getting strong indicators on what Mike is going to do. I really wish free agency started before the draft.

If NY gets Sexton… that may take another Conley destination off the table. Dallas isn’t as good as us. The Lakers would have to work with us on a sign and trade… Miami is one to watch but I think they go after Leonard and then pivot to one or two year deals… not sure that’s what Mike is after.

I think we are still in pole position.

On that note, the Pacers are shopping #13 for a proven player and Bojan seems like a great candidate to me.

Agreed. If we somehow snagged 13, and had the chance to package #13, 30, and something else to move up into the top 10, holy ****. I’m guessing we’d have to trade bojan and 30 for that though. If not more.

I'm pretty locked in on Franz Wagner who I think could realistically develop into a +/- god (if he's even still on the board there). Moses Moody probably would be too and that also sounds good to me.

I only watched one game with Wagner... the UCLA game in the final four where he completely **** the bed. I think he air balled the game winner... I'm sure he's a great player but I can't get that out of my head. In that draft range those are the two guys I think I like most. Moody, Mitchell, Wagner would all be good gambles.

Fair enough, but he is 19 after all and shooting is his current weakness (though he's not terrible). I see his potential as a souped-up Joe Ingles.

Moody has all the core attributes of a serious contributor that may allow him to bloom into a star. Cool with either. We just gotta get Donovan some serious wingmen that help with the burden (Royce ain't that young and is only a release-valve to the offense, Clarkson is redundant in bad ways, both are in his age range but also meaningfully older as well).

We should be thinking about where the team is closer to the end of Donovan's deal when he's weighing the options in those moments. If he's on a team with declining talent, then it's an easy choice to leave. If the Jazz can hit on a couple of prospects that show some serious shine and a good development trajectory then that is a big home team advantage.

Frankly, if we make a move to get to #10, I’m cool with packaging 10 and Gobert to move up to get a stud in the top 6, and rolling the dice with Udoka and maybe Utah State dude in the second round at C.

If Milke wants LA, get NOP involved and send out Favors. Send Kuzma to NOP. Get back Lonzo. Give Boler’s job to LaVar. I’m sure even @FAILED STATE would get behind that.

We can't officially trade Rudy until October. I mean I guess a team could accept the trade, but the rookie couldn't do anything with us until October.

The issue is still the apron… we likely can’t take a guy that has been signed and traded without dumping at least Favs and likely one more guy.

Favors goes to NOP and we do that cap magic that only the pros know about and the message board fans couldn’t even begin to comprehend.

you'd need to flip JC or Bojan into someone's space still. Likely need to clear another $6Mish to be safe.

If you do the Ball deal you then are essentially done as you won't be able to use the taxpayer MLE without going over the apron.

Nah. It’s one of those moves where you wave your hands over it and say some magic words and it works out. Look, these guys get paid a lot of money to bend the laws of physics here. We wouldn’t understand it. But they do.

By itself, yes. I would assume many deals would be made if we took this path.

The hard cap is $140.6 million.
Rudy $35.3
Don $28.1
Bojan $18.7
Lonzo ~$18
Joe $13.1
Clarkson $12.4
Royce $8.8
Udoka $2.1
Oni $1.8
#30 $1.6
Hughes $1.5

11 PLAYER TOTAL - $141.4

Taxpayer MLE - $5.89
Biannual Exception (BAE) - $3.73
Minimum Contracts:
- with NBA Experience Player ~$2 million
- without NBA Experience Player ~$1 million

We are a Bojan for a smaller contract or JC for a smaller contract away from where we need to be.

This is why a Bojan for Kuzma deal makes so much sense. It literally saves us almost $6 million (depending on what Gasol and Harrell do) which opens the door of a possibility of S&T deals.
