I don't think Jones is a SF unless he can become a better shooter. Reminds me of Derrick Williams, but Williams had to be guarded tight to the 3 point line. People can sag off Jones.

Gilchrist looks like Ronnie Brewer, at best Shawn Marion if he is in the right system.

Meh, I don't like anyone on Kentucky other than Anthony Davis. That guy is a monster and I would probably take him or Miller #1 overall.

And since most have been pretty critical of River's/Miller's supposedly poor body language/attitude problems, Jones and Teague of Kentucky had displayed that more than the attitude I've seen out of Rivers or Miller.

Draftexpress tweeted the same thing about Jones, so I'm not crazy/being a UK hater.

Yeah, both teams played crappy. Anthony Davis basically won the game for Kentucky by dominating everyone with his extreme athletic ability and length.

Actually, now that I think about it (if I were KOC), if I got the 1st overall pick I would take Anthony Davis. Then I would take the GS pick (something like 8-14is) and package that with Kanter to move up in the draft to take Quincy Miller. Then I would trade something for a mid first round pick and take Marshall.

Also, KOC was reported at being at MSG tonight.

Favors and Davis down low would give us a ridiculous amount of size, athleticism, and length. Our defense would be downright nasty. Miller would be the go-to scorer. Hayward would be there to stretch the floor. Marshall would be the facilitator.

On a related note, anyone remember how talented and yet how bad the Phoenix Suns were before they brought back Nash to play PG back in the mid 2000? They had good young talent like Joe Johnson, Q. Richardson (back when that wasn't such a bad thing), Shawn Marion and Amare Stoudemire, but they were in last place in their division because their PG was Stephon Marbury. I'm a bit worried that the Jazz might be similar unless we get good PG play.

Quincy Miller is the only elite SG or SF prospect I haven't been able to watch live yet, but based off his stats and a few highlights, I'd say he's been the most impressive, thus far. Except for maybe Jeremy Lamb.

IMO, Miller has the most complete upside of all SF's (or SG's) in the draft/college. If he works hard and plays within the team, he could move to anywhere on the board. It's a long season and all these opinions will change a dozen or more times over the next several months. I was perplexed all game long as to why Kidd-Gilchrist wasn't playing his game .. he really is unstoppable .. hmmm, will have to see over the next few games.

Defensively I thought Kidd-Gilchrist was the best on the floor. He really changed the mindset of the players around him. When he left the floor, it seemed like the defense did as well. In the 2nd half, when he was assigned Kansas' PG, Kansas fell completely apart. That really excites me. What didn't excite me was his offense. All game long I waited for a moment that he would take over or catch fire and it never happened. That worries me. I hope what you say is true and he breaks out against other teams.

He doesn't have a J though. Brewer was considered to be an excellent ball handler in college also. Brewer was a lot like Gilchrist, a talented player who played hard, had excellent Bball IQ and could play PG. I just see those things translating just like Brewer's did. I think he will be a slightly better shooter, because he doesn't have the the terrible side spin Brewer had, but his shot is still bad. I don't think his release will allow him to ever become a reliable jump shooter from distance.

Like I said, I see him being a good player depending on system. If he can get into something that is really uptempo (were he looks like he is really good because he can attack the rim and pass) he will be a pretty good player (never an All-Star). If not, he will just be a good defender.

That's all fair and I was complaining the whole game. Teague sucked in the first half (but did much better in the 2nd). K-G played some awesome defense, but he clearly was told to focus his energies there and let the other guys score the points. He's our best scorer, imo, other than maybe Davis (because, as Cyrone put it, his physical attributes).

EARLY (early, early) in the season I'm most impressed with Q. Miller, Davis, and J. Lamb. Again, the opinions will change plenty, but these three, thus far, have been better than I expected this early.

Yes he looks really skinny, but I think he could obtain a Garnett like physique. He would be a risk, because if he wasn't able to bulk-up and add skill to his game, he could be a bust.

I think Baylor will also be an unstoppable team once they get Jones back. They have so much freaking size and outside shooting.

I agree that Davis is a PF. A lot of guys can be serviceable at multiple positions, but Davis is pretty clearly a 4. He's already put on 20lbs while at UK and his frame expected to be able to handle all he needs (projecting around 235-240).

By the way, Cy, I thought that game was nearly unwatchable. I called it ugly, but that was from a homer .. it was uglier. Having said that, these guys are very young and they've got plenty of time to show the world what they can do. I'm used to having youth on the team .. and K-G and Davis are on the level of any we've ever had (sans Wall).
