Following potential 2012 draftees

Also, has anyone seen Patrick Young this year? He is the closest thing to Dwight Howard I have seen as far as physique. Dude is ripped beyond belief.

I've watced Patric for a couple years. Great physique but he's having a hard time putting it to good use against mid-level competition. Most mocks have him late lottery, but I think he'll need two years of college in order to get there .. not expecting too much from him this year.

Not been to impressed either with Rivers. Thrown up a lot of bad shots. Not a good outside shot so far either, but lets remember it took Barnes about half a season to get going

Yep .. big difference between the two players though .. Rivers has shown (in the past) that he's willing to take loads of bad shots, his killer instinct is fine, but he has to learn to channel it into seeing the floor and becoming team first. Barnes, on the other hand, has shown just the opposite, tending to be more passive, lacking the killer instinct .. and at times, deferring too much. Interesting how elite players can be so different.

The Jazz need a steady, mature pass-first PG. They have plenty of athleticism and scoring. They're going to need game management. Kendall Marshall does look like the priority PG prospect to me. Picture him on the floor feeding Favors, Kanter, Evans, Burks, Hayward, Millsap, and getting them out in the open court. He can make his own scoring an afterthought. If we can get Miller, Davis or Drummond, of course we'd have to do it, but as Cyrone pointed out, Marshall might be just made for the Jazz. I'm going to be watching him closely. Hopefully he can hit an open shot and get by people when he needs to.

His shot is my biggest concern. I have not watched him enough to know how consistent or not he is.

Good take for sure. However, let me throw a wrench in your scenario (whether you agree or not is totally cool). An elite PG would ideally possess the ability to get to the rim and hit the outside shot .. but he MUST (must) have at least one of the two. Marshall is poised (I love this about him) but he has neither. (Challenge me on this)

Teague is imperfect because he has no known outside shot, but he has blow-by .. Kabongo the same. Wroten the same. Marshall is poised, that's about it. Wait until he gets to an NBA-level defender that is paid to know how to body him up and take away the easy pass .. especially when he can't blow-by. A Teague, Wroten, or Kabongo can burn a defender if they body up ... NONE of these guys can burn them if they sag .. but Marshall has none of the above. MAYBE that's why most mocks have him going the last of the four mentioned. (??????????????)

He will move up. Someone will take him earlier than projected who thinks he fits what they are trying to do.

Actually, you're probably right. PG's will dry up for the next couple years. Kendall will become a nice fit for someone. (but you're reaching)

NBA GM's will see the truth. To be a good player in the NBA all you need is one elite skill. Marshall has that. And is arguably one of the best passers in recent college history.

Also. MSU killed A&M tonight in a "Welcome to the SEC" game. Can't wait to dominate them in Football and Bball for years to come.

Marshall is certainly an interesting player. He has elite passing skills but virtually no other basketball skills whatsoever. I'm not sure a player like that can succeed in the NBA knowing a good zone will squash teams with glaring offensive weaknesses.

I think Marshall will do just fine with his shot. It looks good doesn't have any glaring weakness to it other then he drifts a little when he shoots. (fixable) I agree with cy he is a perfect fit.

I think Davis can play the 3 in the NBA. Ak did it why not Davis. He reminds me of a less offensive better defending durant. I drool at the thought of a front line of Davis, favors, kanter. With Hayward and marshall at the guards then burks as the 6th extraordinare.

He needs a screen, but he should be able to get in the lane. You're right that he doesn't have blow-by quickness, but he has adequate speed. Nash can't take anyone off the dribble. Kidd hasn't gotten by anyone in five years. Billups has never had speed. They're still effective. Marshall just needs to be able to hit a floater or a jumper if his man goes under the screen. He's such a deft passer that he's more dangerous passing than he is driving to the rim, which leads me to believe defenders may actually back off him to block passing lanes and try to get him to shoot--the way teams defend Kidd. If Marshall gets crowded, he'll just pass off or use a screen. His shooting percentage from last year is low (42%), but he shot 38% from 3pt. last year. He's not hopeless. He just doesn't take many shots, only 5 or 6 per game. By comparison, Harrison Barnes shot 42% and 34% from 3pt. and people are convinced he's a shooter. I think Marshall may be one of those guys who will do better in the athletic testing than people expect. He plays with an even temperament, but I think he can turn up the intensity if he needs to. It will be interesting to see. It would be great to see if he can hit clutch shots, but something tells me those plays will be called for Barnes.

Marshall will never have "blow-by" ability like Teague or Kabongo, so his success in the NBA will depend largely on his 3pt consistency. If he can be a dynamite shooter, then I can see him becoming twilight-Kidd-esque. I'd love to have that kind of PG for this rebuild project, but I need to see that 3 pointer falling for him before I'd take him in the top 12 or so.

You got it.

Jeremy Lamb was 0/5 from 3 tonight. Like I said, it'll be a long season with wild swings of opinions along the way.
