What's new

Las Vegas Summer League thread

Forrest took waaaaay better care of the ball tonight and had lots of assists.

Udoka VS Whiteside in practice is going to be pretty epic. Wish we could see it happen.

Overtime should be fun now....

Quin Snyder and my son both love shopping at Tillys I think.

I thought Hughes was clutch after looking horrible earlier. Forrest and Dok were solid. A guy that is unspectacular but gets the job done solidly is Dakota Mathias. I wonder if the coaches might be looking at him as a two way? He was GLeague experience where he averaged 18 ppg and averaged 6 ppg in 8 games for the Sixers last year.

Fun game. Dok's and 1 dunk was amazing. Btw Jared Butler looks way shorter while standing next to Trent Forrest. Trent is 6-4 and Butler is 6-3 right? Butler seems more like 6-1.

How’s his D? All I know is I liked his shot from the highlights of one game. He’s got great shooting numbers in college and G league from deep. Looks like a good Thomas replacement.

He’s a way better passer and ball handler but this guy looks a ton like Thomas. He does a lot of pull up jumpers and runners.

It's pretty good. He was Big 10 defensive player of the year I think his senior year. The Sixers played him enough in 8 games last year for him to average 6 ppg. So his D couldn't have been hideous. He does nothing that will show up in ESPN Highlights but quietly gets the job done.

Dakota Mathias 3P%:

Freshman 32.2%
Sophomore 38.6%
45.3%
46.6%
Overall: 41.9% on 4.2 attempts per game.

G League last year: 39.2% on 9 attempts per game.

He was only 8/26 for the Sixers last year, though.

Damn. Not bad to have on the résumé when I’m comparing him to Thomas.

Now we know why Hughes doesn’t get any burn during games. He must not show much promise in practice. If he’s struggling against new NBA talent, you aren’t going to sniff the court.

Of course, kid ties the game with a clutch trey 10 second after I wrote this....
Then gives up a wide open corner 3 to start OT.

Based on summer league so far. Brantley is just plain awful, and Hughes is not good either.

They need to put Brantley out to pasture, and get the microphone away from Sam Mitchell, except still let him call games at the mid-west review.

My homer pick Miles McBride looking nice tonight. 7-9 FG, 6-6 3pt, 2-2 FT. 22/7/5 in 28 minutes. I preferred him over Butler even without the medical red flags, but I hope I'm wrong!

You’re gonna make Melo reach for the Jergens.

Just booked a room for Vegas for next week (not for summer league).
