Elijah Hughes is shooting 29% from 3pt in 4 Summer League games. He shot 21% from 3pt in 5 G-league games last year.
He's supposed to be a good shooter.

A good shooter should be shooting way better than 34% from the college three point line.Elijah Hughes is shooting 29% from 3pt in 4 Summer League games. He shot 21% from 3pt in 5 G-league games last year.

He shot 33% as a senior. Just because his shot is smooth doesn’t mean he’s a good shooter.Elijah Hughes is shooting 29% from 3pt in 4 Summer League games. He shot 21% from 3pt in 5 G-league games last year.

The 2nd 2-way guy likely isnt playing on this team.Doke looks great… makes a few dumb mistakes but I think he’s playable if Whiteside sucks or gets hurt. Forrest is fine… I want more from him defensively. Teague is kinda fun… Mathias likely gets the two way… he was good tonight when I watched but I’ve been really unimpressed. This summer league team is not super fun.
Alright, so color me somewhat intrigued on this Mathias cat. He’s a way better prospect than Thomas.
His offensive style is exactly our offense in that he’s a guy who can hit threes at a high clip on a high volume but he moves the ball really well and would be perfect for the blender (in a hypothetical world where he was in the rotation). He’s not dead weight being a shooter only on offense with how well he can quickly move the ball, make reads, or quickly put the ball on the floor and make decisions.
Each of his junior and senior years he made the defensive team for the Big Ten.
This is a complete DL troll pickup. DL trades away (another) second rounder for a one-dimensional shooter. JZ waives him as one of the first matters of business. Then if he brings this guy in at no cost but a two-way, who has a few other dimensions to his game and may not be a complete liability on defense.
Take a look in the video above because there’s some good stuff in there.
My favorite part of the commentary on last nights game was Sam Mitchell talking about udokas ft form and saying it’s not bad and not broken. Uhhhh sir… it ain’t fixed either. Are teams in the NBA going to let Udoka play and dominate their second units? How many games before they figure out he's shooting in the 30s from FT?
Yeah, I'm hoping it's just confidence/nerves and he figures it out soon. I know he's a better player than he's shown.Welp, Hughes missed a dunk followed by two missed FTs. Then he badly missed a floater at the buzzer. Not sure what's going on with him, but he hasn't shot well in SL at all.
I dont think that's a huge concern for a backup. Are teams really going to let their guys rack up fouls when Udoka is likely playing? Are teams in the NBA going to let Udoka play and dominate their second units? How many games before they figure out he's shooting in the 30s from FT?
Whiteside is a bit hit and miss with his FTs too... it's a coin flip whether we get him shooting in the 60s or around 50Udoka likely has 12 months to figure out FTs and improve because while he has looked really good… Whiteside likely holds that position all year if healthy.
I think Mathias is the current favorite. I’ve heard two beat guys mention him and think there is some smoke. Likely waiting to see what happens and if someone better springs loose but I think he’s the guy unless they find something else they like. I’d rather do something else. The 2nd 2-way guy likely isnt playing on this team.
