Mike Elliott (Head of Medical) Leaves Utah Over Mitchell Dispute

Didn't the training staff tell MJ to sit the flu game out because he had a fever and was supposedly sick as a dog?

All player power situations stem from Michael Jeffrey Jordan. Nobody can argue otherwise.

Punch a teammate - gets team to cover it up

Want more money than the salary cap - NBA allows it

Want to play even through you have the flu - go ahead

Don't like how the Pistons play you - complain until refs change their stance

Agree to disagree. No player has ever come close to trying to run the league and dictate policy like LeBron. The league certainly cowtowed to MJ but he was not trying to run things like the King.

This. How many other players have dictated the format of the all-star game? Of course it raised it from harmless high-scoring games to full-on farce. But still. LBJ has usurped too much control over the league.

Don’s probably the least likable guy on the team. He is for me at least. And it’s really not even close. Maybe Whiteside will take that crown idk.

mate did you listen to Whiteside's media day interviews ?? Dude's stunningly likeable af He's gonna become a fan fav before long.

I had a dream last night that the Jazz somehow signed Hassan Whiteside on the minimum to pair with Doke for the Center backup minutes. How cool would that be?!! The Jazz never get good things to happen to them like that though. . .

They didnt blindside the team man. Mitchell got himself cleared through his own medical team that leaked it to the media over the chain of command for clearing that stuff.

I'm not @oneye, but this is Mitchell being extremely power hungry. Elliott was proven right almost immediately and it probably led to Mitchell having a diminished off-season in terms of ability to train at 100%.
Power hungry? You think? Donovan is the diva I’ve said he is and he’s not who the public face he puts out is deep down. He’s a cut-throat narcissist who cares about the image of one and only one.

No I don't actually lol. You think Mitchell has control of the team's injury report, and not the training staff that had the power to hold him out? Besides the injury report, how about telling someone, anyone, that Mitchell might not play so they make their preparations incorrect? Might be a good thing to tell the coaches or players.
Mitchell has control of literally the entire organization and that’s abundantly clear at this point lol.

Whiteside is actually pretty hilarious lol. He could be a bit more serious at times. A kind of weird comment from Whiteside on media day during his interview he mentioned Donovan was more personable than he expected. Just kind of a weird comment that he didn’t think Donovan was personable seeing as how hard Donovan tries to portray himself that way. It makes me wonder if some players around the league don’t like Donovan all that much.

I think that says more about you than Don. I don't know if he will stay past his current contract or not, but the guy has a gut full of fire to win, and win here. He is involved in our communities. I don't think bad of him because he actively creates and promotes his brand, I think that also brings attention and tv's to our team. He is a superstar and a pretty good guy, but more than that I think he plays pretty good team ball and cares about the fans here.

He's not Hayward. We don't need to assume he's leaving the first chance he gets. We need to take the good he brings and build on it.

At the same time we need to learn from the Hayward experience. If he leaves, he leaves. As long as he's up front about it and doesn't lie about it and leave a bomb behind like Hayward, then if he does leave I won't boo him when he comes back. I'll probably cheer for him, but not nearly as much as for our team.

Saying that, I really hope he doesn't leave. If he ends up being a lifer, he could own this state. If he, Gobert and crew bring in even 1 title that will be a fact.
He is not involved in the community. He is the first guy to jet out of town and the last guy to come back. He shows up for things he knows will get media and social media attention to yes give the public image he wants to project. He has not been actually involved in any meaningful way outside pushing his public image. The reason he’s the least likeable to some is you can see through the BS if you aren’t trying so hard to look at him through the rose colored glasses he put on you his first couple years.

If someone has the power to sit Mitchell out, they have the power to list him on the injury report or simply tell anyone on the team that he might be out. I don’t know why this is up for debate.

It’s not crazy to say Mitchell got him fired, but it is completely idiotic to think that Mitchell has so much power to change the injury report but not his actual status. Like I said before, zero possibility you have the power to sit him but not the power to list him on injury report. We know 100% that they had the power to sit him because they did.

If he brings us a championship idgaf. Malone was, frankly, kind of a POS human being. Stockton was very private and not super active in the community and left Utah asap after his playing days. No one is a hero. They come here, play ball for a few years, then go back to wherever they call home. That's the nature of the beast. Imagine being a Cavs fan with a championship from the King of the Divas. I'd be ok with that.

Personally I like Donovan. I don't blame him for trying to maximize his brand. It's how he will provide for his clan for decades and generations to come. I'd do the same if I could.

And if he leaves, so what? He likely will at some point. And there's no guarantee he won't be traded at some point. I've learned in business loyalty is highly overrated. You better believe any company will drop you, anyone, like the basic number you are if they feel it will help them make budget this month. No long-term view at all.

So get over it man. He's a human being. He's hella fun to watch play basketball. He's ours for now and hopefully will help us all scratch that championship itch. So we need to enjoy it while we can.

And that's it.

Imagine being a Cavs fan or on their forums and actually having discussions about whether players want to live there, spend their off-season there, or make social media posts about how much they love Cleveland.

That's why it's called the Michael Jordan exception. Oh wait, it's the Larry Bird Exception.
Michael Jordan got paid more than the entire salary cap for both the 1997 and 1998 seasons. His actions and greed led to the lack of balance and trust that resulted in a lockout. Actually, probably both lockouts.

How is LeBron trying to run anything? The guy faces more scrutiny than any player in league history.

Hahaha? The All Star game? Who cares? And he didnt change that for himself. The league changed that to try to get more viewers.

Some of yall are so tied to MJ that you make up things about LeBron. Sad really.

Reality is this - MJ changed how refs called games. MJ wouldn't let the media report on his many flaws. MJ screwed over the league financials with his greed in his last years in Chicago.

LeBron left a dumpster fire in Cleveland and people have cried ever since.

That's why they sat him against his wishes. Makes perfect sense....

Do you read what you type before you type it?

If Mitchell had as much control as yall think, he would have been off the report AND he would have played.

Where did I say anything about MJ? You have such tunnel-vision defending LeDiva you can't even English. GTFOH with that weak ****.

And if they changed the format to increase viewership it was a dismal failure. The 2021 all-star game was the lowest rated and least watched all-star game in the last 31 years.

They changed the format to accommodate the Divas that wanted to high-five their buddies and run up the score. These divas all live in permanent toxic-masculinity Jr. High school environments and it was an attempt on their part to allow themselves to be king of the playground yet again. It's a huge farce. But you better believe the players had a huge say in the changes.
