Kings vs. Jazz spread: Jazz -6.5. Kings vs. Jazz over-under: 226.5 points

Gobert is going to destroy us

How many times will Gobert piss me off tonight…

Not confident about our ability to stop Gobert offensively or defensively but hopefully I'm wrong.

The NBA seems to be getting more and more competitive as the list of really bad teams gets smaller and smaller. Houston, Detroit, OKC and Orlando are the only teams I would consider terrible. Cleveland and the Wiz are one rung above them. Then you have a whole host of teams with potential but unanswered questions: Sac, Minnesota, NO, Toronto. Three middling teams: San Antonio, Memphis and Indiana and then the expected playoff teams. We will go into a ton of games as the underdog but I hope we keep "stacking days" as the players have been saying a lot lately. We don't match up well against the Jazz but it sure would be nice to see us squeak one out against the expected top team in the West. I'll settle for a close game and a break out performance from Hali B.

Let's hope the broadcast team miraculously stops being horrible..other than Morgan of course. Love Morgan.

I like the timing of this game. Coming off that win, wouldn't be surprising to see the Kings w/an emotional hangover. But a lot of factors push against that:

  • The Jazz are really good & have had the Kings' number
  • Opening Night at the G1C
  • Mitchell vs. Mitchell
  • The Kings having lots to improve on despite the win, especially defensively
  • Several key individual Kings motivated to play better in Game 2
  • I do believe the Kings themselves genuinely believe this can be the turnaround year. Chance to make an early statement tonight

Bruh. Fans really booing Luke in our home opener?

1st Half

Feels like it may get chippy here in a bit lol.

Still unconvinced Quin Snyder isn’t in witness protection.

That's like the third pass we've thrown straight to the Jazz.

Ingles with the Aussie hello. Davion went for it. Might have hurt himself in the process

HOLY **** DAVION UR A BAD MAN

If they don't have a flagrant on this, I'm quitting the NBA

Ingles was trying to get out of the way at the last second.

Both teams sloppy to start but I'm loving the improved ball movement and toughness so far over last years team

Wow def didnt expect a flagrant 2

No way is that flagrant 2.

Ingles being ejected is big.

I don't think Jingles meant it, still a flagrant

kinda dont see how its a flag 2 tbh... def a flag 1 but hey their best 3 pt shooter is gone im not complaining

It’s so beautiful when Haliburton orchestrates the offense on one side and Davion locking down on the other.

Yeah he definitely didn’t expect Davion to go for the highlight dunk. Probably was expecting a layup and just trying to get in his way.

Flagrant 2 was more than I expected. Jazz without Ingles for three quarters look suddenly a bit more vulnerable.

Na a flagrant 2 is too harsh

It really is though lol

Joe fat **** stank *** guy looks like Carmichael Dave trying to stop Davion on the fastbreak

Jazz have infinite timeouts

Surprised it was a 2 also. Definitely at least a 1.

Ejection seems a little harsh.

WAIT WHAT

Ingles is kicked out and he doesn't even know

Damn a flagrant 2 wow

joe just got jingled

MITCHELL ON MITCHELL VIOLENCE

Flagrant 2 is harsh because he did attempt to break the contact but it's kind of like not killing the guy who's house you broke into.

I don't think it was intentional. He was looking the basket and tried to stop.

We need D mitchell on D mitchell

Love love LOVE the increased physicality of this season

Someone needs to tell Len to get in Gobert’s face. Get a double T and they’re down two huge pieces

Their Mitchell is ****ing scary

It's nice not getting dominated by a center for once. Especially Gobert.

How the heck are we up haha
Bagley effect, max him!

Kings leading despite going 3-12 from deep and a bajillion sloppy plays. Amazing what playing defense will do for your chances.

i honestly think if they play like this defensively against most teams they come out with a 10 or 15 point win. this jazz team is so well prepared

Fox is playing so bad right now Jesus Christ.

Commentary is so bad I need an Arabic stream or something

DAVION MITCHELL IS MY FAVORITE PLAYER EVER

That screen was payback for Webber on Stockton..

How the eff was that not a foul on Whiteside on that pick?

Throwing the ball to the other team is bad, right?

Davion Mitchell is now my religion

Playing small played Gobert off the court in the playoffs. Nice idea in theory, but doesn’t really matter when we have no ball movement

Kings inordinately struggling with their shoes early this season. Hopefully they can fix that

Held the Jazz to 46 at the half…..very nice, I liiiikkkkke

Davion with the singularly most impressive one point in a half performance ever.

And not to talk about something other than the game, but why is the Earth spinning the wrong direction in the Chevron commercial?

Davion is the best defender on the team. Len is 2nd.

So...we're a talented team this year, aren't we? This pleases me.

Buddy w/10 3PA in 13 min. Oh my.

They're just having Gobert roll and having their guards follow him into the paint.

Funny to hear the Jazz announcers calling us a physical team. I guess that's a compliment.

When was the last time the kings held another team under 50 points at the half?

There's nobody in the NBA I hate us to play against more than Gobert.

2nd Half

10K only for a half court shot? Man kings are broke af

Snyder is such a good coach. He goes out and immediately attacks the Kings in the exact way he should.

The Jazz players average 1 person falling down per 1 minute of play.

If it wasn't for the new nba rules, they would've went to the free throw line 20 times.

Conley picking up fouls by simply being slower than everyone.

Yeah, what crappy officiating! If this game was called the way it should Kings have no shot! Such a weak team!!!

Where did the NBA get these refs and what did Holmes do to them?

Stop throwing it across court to jumpstart the offense!!! 4th turnover doing that **** tonight

Kings are heating up like a fine wine

Kings winning by being meaner than the other team for once.

I will never have any sympathy for Gobert on a foul call.

We must have had half a dozen pass to Utah turnovers now

Jazz are so damn dirty

Anyone else swap from our announcers to Utah’s? They are actually announcing the game.

It feels like neither of our announcers are doing play by play

3 fouls in less than 10 seconds lmao

I’m ngl Jazz Lowkey getting hoed by refs

Honestly might be the worst game Fox has played since his rookie year

Gobert started covid. Never forget

Jazz spend so much goddamn time sitting and lying on the floor

Gobert out here having a Boogie-esque emotional meltdown

I have never seen a team throw the ball to the other team as much as this game.

They have 8 more made threes than us and have a one point lead. Our turnovers have been unforced and we have caused most of theirs. Oi

Damn Donovan scored that even after Davion swiped it.

It’s turned into a grind and we will lose that battle

Fire Luke Walton for waiting too long to get Buddy Hield back onto the court and putting Harrison Barnes at center. Absolute disaster.

What a ****ing choke job

Taking a top 5 team in the NBA to crunch time without playing particularly well is really impressive

Transition defense has disappeared late in the 4th

Jazz are the better team and it's beginning to show late. Kings held their own though

I'm uhhh not sure what we were trying to do on offense there

Kings with no offensive execution down the stretch

What a frustrating 4th quarter. Smh

I'm developing some real animus toward Gobert.

Can’t be going scoreless for 4 minutes straight in the 4th and win the game

Gobert 9/10 from the line is just cheese

Damn coulda been a 1 point game into a 10 point game in like 7 seconds

Davion's defense is actually absurd

Is this the same Whiteside we had been watching last year?

Will the kings ever score again

Buddy Hield just wanted to remind us he’s never changing. Yet another late game avoidable turnover.

Yeah.. I'm all for the 3 guard lineup... But not 4... Against gobert

Nah this franchise is absurdly cursed. Even when there’s hope, there’s gotta be pain

Literally went from 4 points to 10 in only 5 seconds. Seems like something that only happens to this team

rudy poo candy ***

Lobs against Gobert is probably not the move

Refs must have a personal vendetta against Holmes

Omg buddy threw the game

What a terrible way to end the game. Completely wasted effort. Should scratch Buddy’s name off the record book after this ****

A ****ing alley oop on Rudy gobert are you serious

Post Game

Our starting point guard had 12 points. Jazz out there playing with 6 men…. That number 36 out there was on fire….. oh wait Jazz don’t have a number 36. That would be the ref. At one point in the 3rd quarter there was 6 fouls called in a minute and a half. Gobert in the 4th took the ball in the post didn’t dribble and took 5 steps to the basket with no travel. NBA is a joke.

Why did Walton stay with small lineup in the 4th quarter when it wasn't working. Outsmarted himself.

The second half of the fourth quarter was awful. No leadership and a lot of confusion in the half court offense.

Dumb possession after dumb possession in the 4th cost us that game big time Terrible decision making for the final 12. Gave away a very winnable game especially after the Jazz lost Ingles early.

Pro: Davion Mitchell’s defense is downright stupid. So at least there’s that.

Also when did Gobert started to hit free throws??? He missed even one today?

They played very hard defensively, but you just can't have Fox play so poorly AND have a zillion brain-dead turnovers to win against Utah.

Randomly just threw the ball to Utah like 12 times.

The difference was the three ball. 16 vs. 8

Davion Mitchell was excellent. Major minutes on both Donovan and Clarkson. He played them both at a high level. Donovan won some and lost some and had an average game…but Clarkson for the most part really struggled to do much when Davion was on him and I think for Clarksons standards he had an “off night”. Either way, a rookie was told to handle heavy minutes on Damian Lillard, Donovan Mitchell and Jordan Clarkson in his first two NBA games and came out of it with a few viral defensive highlights and everybody talking about how high level his defense is. Can’t wait for that offense to come around.

Not a single 3 from anyone besides Buddy and HB. And no one except Buddy hit a 3 after the 1st quarter.

Should have won this. Played like garbo in the 4th. No “moral victories” because we stuck with a team that owned us in recent years, we wNt to take the mythical “next step” we win games we should win.

Lets not forget the Jazz with Gobert and Whiteside shot 20-23 from the line.

The 2nd half shot charts tell the story to a large degree. The Jazz is a modern game special based on spacing. The Kings, is, well... something that shows you how this motion crap and mid range stuff creeps it's head in again and again.

Its like we swapped our offense from last year to the defense this year, and as a result, our defense from last year is now our offense this year

Tough loss but they were in the game the entirety of the way. Davion’s defense is unreal, and it’s only his second NBA game! Liked seeing an aggressive Haliburton but would like to see him be a bit more, as he still seemed passive at times still. Same goes with Fox this game, seemed a bit afraid to take it to Gobert.

Second game now where offense collapses in the final minutes of the game, and turnovers were really costly. But if the team can figure out how to close games, it would start to look like they are a legit team.

Not even a full house but it got LOUD whenever Davion got a stop

That tiny tiny lineup was probably the right way to try and win the end of this ame against these jazz with Holmes fouled out. But if they try that, the guys gotta be willing to manufacture and hit outside shots. I wanna say the first 4 possessions of that lineup were- 2 HB postup attempts, and 2 davion drives into the paint.. not what you want with that lineup and def not with Gobert defending the paint. After those they started chucking up 3's but it was too late and they weren't going in anyway.

Playing small played Gobert off the court in the playoffs. Nice idea in theory, but doesn’t really matter when we have no ball movement
The sad truth is that small ball in the playoffs should’ve played Gobert off the court but Quin refused to take him out, or maybe we win that game
Gobert 9/10 from the line is just cheese
And we needed those. Lol

The small ball doesn't play Rudy off the floor, it simply exposes all the rest of our guys.
Yeah I'm sick of this narrative because it's patently false. The reason it appears that way it's because Rudy makes a superhuman effort to cover everyone else's *****iness so you see him running around and not quite getting to people. Everyone else is playing like Drax...holding so perfectly still they become invisible.

That said, I'm pretty happy with our defensive effort so far this season. Every individual appears to be trying harder. Quietly impressed with Bogey's increased effort on both defense and rebounding. He aggressively went after and secured a tough critical rebound last night that I don't think he would have even gone after in years past. Maybe Rudy's work ethic on D is finally paying dividends.

Yeah, Rudy is our best inside defender and our best perimeter defender. You just can't ask him to do both at the same time, in the playoffs. . .

Yep exactly. It’s quite sad that the coaching staff didn’t try anything to help him. He had to choose rim or perimeter. Can’t be two places at once.
