Who is our long term #1 Superstar Stud?

Hayward is the only one to show flashes of offensive potential similar to what is being talked about here. Most importantly he did it when matched up against a superstar and with the lights at their brightest. Can he sustain and improve on that? Dunno- but he has proved that the potential exists.

Favors is very raw offensively but potentially he is a beast.

Burks charity game indeed was an interesting taste- but it was in a charity game so we don't know how he'll do with the defensive screws squeezing him.

To me though, this team looks like a throwback to the 80s Celtics teams and it excites me.

I have thought this since last preseason, Hayward will be a stud. He did it all in that Lakers game. He took defenders 1 on 1 he hit outside J's he made his teammates better and made clutch defensive plays against the top closer in the game. He put the team on his back in that game, he has the intangibles of a star player, he is very competitive. Hayward has also been there done that as well at Butler.

I suspect the jazz to have a fairly balanced attack like the pistons championship team. i think that is what they are built for rigth now and in the coming years with our young core.

Jefferson is still our best player and will still be our leading scorer. I am excited that there are a number of players who are actually in the conversation. If Burks can shoot consistently, he is going to be special!!!

Why did we draft Enes Kanter number three again? Anyone?

I have wondered this too. The other question I have is how stupid was everyone else in the NBA that Burks was not taken #1 overall. He is very obviously the best player in the draft, without question, with the possible exception of Jimmer, who is not really human but a cyborg programmed to be the perfect basketball player.

Favors has the highest ceiling but Hayward is the best bet. At this juncture I'd rank it - Hayward, Favors, Millsap, Burks, Kanter...

Burks and Kanter still have a lot to prove, obviously.

As much as I doubt Kanter, he has a better chance of being our #1 than Hayward.
Word. I think Kanter has a better chance to be the #1 than Favors as well. Favors skill-set and personality should make him a really nice player, but I don't see him every becoming a 1st option that you run isos for and hope he carries you on his back. Favors will probably be the better player in general too, just, again, I don't see him being a real 1st option.

The Jazz traded Deron Williams to get Derrick Favors. They're betting the current dynasty on him. He's supposed to be our Amare, Tim Duncan, etc.

The Jazz also like Al Jefferson though, probably more as a 2nd option.

If the two of them can play well together, it would be pretty potent.

OP you said we need to trade or draft our next superstar, I disagree. Between Favors, Burks, and Hayward I'm sure at least one of them reaches all-star level. I'd bet my lunch on it. Not to mention the possibility of Kanter becoming something special, he was the number 3 pick after all, that happens for a reason most of the time. And I honestly believe Big Al is going to surprise everyone this season.

I don't understand why some people are so high on Burks. The hype we're hearing about the guy is the same stuff we've heard about past draft picks. As Jazz fans, haven't we learned from the Stevenson, Snyder, Miles experiments? Many of you believe KOC is God, but let's not forget that he's only made ONE good first round pick ever for the Jazz.

So far the only off-season footage we have of Burks is him throwing down crazy dunks in a Pro-Am league, and him nailing 5 of 6 three pointers in the Jazz charity game. That's probably the biggest reason for the hype.
