What's new

Game Thread Nov 18, 2021 07:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Raptors

Added to Calendar: 11-18-21

I am pretty sure Raptors are the team I would most want to trade with. They have so many athletic 6'8ish guys that play defense and can shoot. OG is who I wanted in the 2017 draft. Obviously glad we ended up with Mitchell instead but he would be great on this team. Obviously Pascall would be amazing. But guys like Boucher and Precious would be good pickups for us. Gary Trent would be awesome next to Mitchell for the other guard spot. His defense this year has been great. Both their draft picks look pretty solid this year as well. They have 3 PGs and then they have two 6'5 SGs and then the rest of the roster is all 6'7"-6'8" guys that can play 3 positions.

Another must not lose game.

I see Locke’s headline that the Raptors might be our worst matchup. Can anyone share the specific details of why he’s saying this? I can probably guess (their stiff perimeter defense + bevy of powerwings). I probably don’t have time to listen to his pod today.

Listening to it now. Toronto has a bunch of long and athletic switchable players and play without a center. They will likely create a lot of turnovers and get in transition where we are not good. In the half court they run a lot of isolation and DHO, which we aren't great at defending.

This is a must win game... which is a shame because it is a certain loss game.

The only way we win is if Siakham can't make wide *** open threes and if we shoot better than 45% from three.

To answer @NAOS question... The raptors are athletic and long... we are... well... not that. They play in transition and get a lot of deflections/turnovers... we... well... not so great with teams that do that. They will switch effectively neutering our pick and roll... this is an issue we've never seen before... except every year in the playoffs extensively. It will be a lot of Donovan and Mike and JC one on one after they spend a bunch of time switching.

We are a 9.5 favorite in this game. This is why I have not opened and online gambling account... because I'd bet a lot of money that we lose this game with those type of odds.

OG is apparently out... so we are 10.5 pt favorites. It does change my thinking a bit here.

One thing to watch... The Raps rookie Banton... he's interesting but holy hell he palms the ball every time he dribbles. I know that is a boomer thing to say but it is way more than other guys. Its really weird.

I just got out of Ghostbusters Afterlife. Not even a Jazz loss can dampen my nostalgic euphoria.

Apparently it's Thrul Bailey now.

Bogey is so much better when he just shoots in rythymn

Nice recognition by the Jazz players to move the ball quicker and take the open shots without a timeout. The Jazz need to be able to make decisions and play accordingly on the fly. They lacked that last year.

Bogdanobrick sidesteps on the three pointer even though he is completely and utterly alone and unguarded.
