What's new

Game Thread Dec 17, 2021 07:00PM MT: Jazz vs. Spurs

Added to Calendar: 12-17-21

I saw plenty of d'ing up. Often times great offense (or lucky offense) beats great defense. Case in point spurs final basket. Rudy defended as good as he ever has and dude made the toughest shot of his life.
And also cleared him out with his off hand.

What a stupid play call. Snyder has to be one of the worst out of timeout coaches.

This. Horrible play. they acted like they had .7 seconds left instead of over 2 seconds. Having said that if donovan makes a 5 foot pass to wide open ingles I like our chances of us having won at the buzzer. Quin cant make the pass for donovan however.

I wish Quin would use Donovan as a decoy on the final play sometimes. Everyone and their Grandma knows the ball is going to Donovan. If we went to Mike or Bogey we could get a better, more open look. Also Joe was absolutely wide open if Don just would've passed it back to him after he inbounded instead of trying to be the hero.

Not sure if that was a terrible play design or terrible execution but Donovan had zero shot of making that.
Wonder what would have happened if Donovan pump faked and got a guy in the air. those spurs dudes were coming and contesting hard. I bet at least one would have went into the air and donovan could have had some free throws. Hindsight tho

Yea that was a terrible play call. The spurs new he was going to shoot it.
I was hoping they would try to get bogey a look from three but knew for certain donovan was going to jack up some prayer.

Oh what? You wanted our best 3pt shooter to shoot the game winning 3pt shot? What? That's ****ing crazy talk. I'm sure if Quinn could explain it to you you would understand why you're wrong.

The part of the game that pissed me off the most besides the final play (when ingles was wide open and mitchell should have passed it to him instead of rushing a shot that didn't need to be rushed that much) was a 3 possession stretch in the middle of the 4th when donovan went one on one with no passing at all and missed at the rim, then the next possession clarkson went one on one with no passing at all and missed at the rim, and then the next possession bogey went one on one with no passing and missed at the rim. So frustrating.
Even more frustrating was how many extremely difficult extremely contested 2 point buckets the spurs made.
They always do this when I watch down the stretch. I'll try to be more busy again so we can go on another win streak.

It was mostly a scheme problem. We wanted them to take contested 2s… they knew it and part of that makes them comfortable shooting them… now normally a good night is like 50% in that range… I’d guess they were damn near 70%.

But this is where the coach needs to stop playing for the averages over 100 possessions and try to get two or three stops out of five trips up the floor… so they expect Rudy to hang back.. why not bring Rudy all the way up and try to **** some **** up… we also need a disruptive perimeter guy that can not allow them to get where they want so easily.

They made the shots tonight and earned it… it happens… on to the next one. If we keep doing the same thing with the same guys it will happen in the playoffs too… at least 4 times out of 7.

TROLL! What about the other 4 players on the court? Why you singling out Donovan? Takes a team to play defense. Team lost cause they played soft. But as I said. We can always guarantee you on the game board with your negative posts.
How many points did the Spurs 2 guards score tonight. All 3 scored double digits. All 3.

Donovan Mitchell IS NOT our best 3pt shooter and "clutch" is a fantasy that fans have about players. Why the **** did the Jazz insist on inbounding to Donovan who clearly had diarrhea cramps?
Ya if donovan was going to the hoop I would have felt better about going to him. But if we are shooting a three and going for the win anyways then bogey would be option 1 for me, followed by conley or ingles and then mitchell after those 3.

Bogey has hit some great buzzer beaters… he should be the actual #1 option on a play like that.

devils advocate, rudy comes up and then they get offensive rebounds and put backs. But ya, I prefer making adjustments when you are getting killed.

I wonder how many more times we have to watch Donovan miss a 3 from way behind the line to lose the game that's crazily contested because every team in the NBA knows exactly where the ball is going before we decide to do anything different.

Mitchell isn't clutch at the buzzer. Conley, Bogey even Ingles depending on the night is a better answer. This season the Jazz have lost more games with him taking the last shot then they've won.

Players shoot their percentage. It's a proven ****ing fact. Clutch is not a thing that exists in this universe. Get over that concept. It has been thoroughly proven to be false as ****.

For sure but you are just trying to get them to make one pass they didn’t plan on or take a more contested shot than they wanted… there’s a chance it lands in one of our guts laps. You just have to throw a breaking ball every now and again to make your fastball more potent.
