I think there's a 40% chance that if the Jazz get at least one lottery pick this year, the new guy will be playing this Saturday at 10:00 MST on CBS.
I think everyone would agree that our biggest need going into the draft would be a future PG (I'm fine w/ Harris for the next two years), however for the first time in years the PG class looks rather bleak, although things could change and players could emerge. I think the next biggest need would be a swingman. Having said that here's Margo's current draft board:
1. Anthony Davis - no surprise here. I know he's slated as a PF, but he looks more than capable of being a slashing 3 who can also knock down 20 footers. Plus who wouldn't like a starting front line with an average height of 6'11?
2. Black Falcon - I think he was a bit overhyped coming out of HS, but he's very smooth and has great range which is an area that the Jazz need to look to improve
3. Drummond - I know he's another PF/C, but I'm not sure he's a guy you pass on if he's available
4. Kidd-Gilchrist - 2nd best SF on the board. Doesn't seem to be elite at any one thing, but appears to be very good at everything
5. PJIII - Baylor's loves their "the Thirds". He's a more athletic, but less effective Davis. People also say he's a PF, but he appears to be a SG in a PF body. He has a decent but not great jumpshot, which if he improves (and he's got all the mechanics to do so) then I think he'd be a stud SF and once again he would fulfill my dream of a gigantic frontcourt.
6. Rivers & Teague (Tie) - Teague is probably the best PG on the board, which isn't saying much. Granted he's struggled out of the gate, but I think by the end of the year he'll show that he's the top PG. I'd also be happy with Rivers who I see in the same boat as Drummond -- he doesn't fill a need necessarily (as he's not a true PG), but he doesn't look like a guy you should pass on
7. T. Jones - Ever wondered how CJ'd be if he were 6'9" 240? Guy has all the abilities one could want, but he's got some really immature body language. On the right team I think he'd be great, but put him in a bad situation and look out.
8. Quincy Miller
9. Lamb
10. McAdoo
