What's new

Is It Ironic?

it's a good thing I'm also a football fan so I don't get carried away with threads. every time somebody post a super long one I just ignore it.

FYI I'm a huge fan of joe and Clarkson and it sucks reading all the comments but at the end of the day, it's better than nothing. jazzfanz deserve a trophy

@Gameface

I respect you taking a stance here. A good perspective post to be more positive.

These last two postseasons have been so disappointing because we seem so promising. Our fanbase is feeling the strain. Some still have hope in this roster. Some have lost it. And some have a paper thin layer of hope with frustration breaking through.

I love to sit back and watch the successes, but I like to chime in to help get us over a hump and through tough times. Some people on this forum are fans, but most of the active posters are wannabe GM's. I approach this forum as a wannabe GM, but I realize that I should put on the fan hat more often.

I think we all want what is best for this franchise. For the most part, I think we care about these players as people and as athletes. We wish this exact roster reaches that ultimate goal, but can it? That's what we all are debating as we approach this important deadline.

In sports, the reality is that if you’re not winning, you’re losing.

Part of this reality is that last year, the stars aligned for us as we had injured superstars around the league, the best record, both front runners for the sixth man of the year and a Clippers team that was hobbled. But the injury bug bit us and we bowed out due to small ball wrecking us as in years past.

This year, we don’t have any of these pleasures sans injuries for us and it’s hard watching our best chance since the statues evaporate knowing that we only have another couple years before this team is significantly different.

The root negativity is not because of any one player or coach, but in that we are fumbling our future and that we may never see a team this competitive again for many years.

You should see the complete meltdown happening in Laker country. We are a bunch of middle aged women at a tennis club complaining that the new ball boys aren't cute enough, or doctors on their private golf course complaining they don't have enough young female caddies to go around compared to them. They have made denial into an olympic sport. Now 2 of the guys here that had Lakers crap all over their offices have taken most of their stuff down, trying to minimize the torture of unfulfilled entitlement. The ultimate blue balls.

I am disappointed and being more negative than usual largely because of our own unfulfilled expectations. We thought we would be better this year, but we also all saw the weaknesses and that these weaknesses were not addressed. We still started out optimistic, as we added some veteran presence and hoped another year together would mean everyone got a little better. We did not expect the drop off in efficiency across the board, nor how long it would take for some of our guys to get out of their slump. Combine that with unprecedented losing recently and we feel our spirits being crushed as we see teams like the Suns just rolling through the season as expected, with improvement in every area they were lacking. So we come here to vent as this is our safe space, since most of our loved ones are probably like my wife and sick of hearing me yelling at the TV during the games and such. Fans are emotional and they need a release, whether good or bad.

There are still reasons to be optimistic. Maybe the team will learn something watching the young guys just killing it. The last game was fun to watch and showed what our young guys are capable of. It is normal to try to temper our expectations, sour grapes and all that, and when the full team comes back and starts to win again a lot of this will become fodder for the few I-told-you-so's on the board later in the season, even while a good chunk of them were complaining with the rest of us. It is the Jazzfanz circle of life.

Have a good break @Gameface you will be missed but I hope you are better for not being on the board. We all get it. This is a unique place on the interwebs and runs different than any other forum I frequent. We all need breaks from it now and then.

Take care and come back soon. You have a voice that is missed and needed.

I'm just disappointed with the coaching. Same as the past few seasons. Yes, there has been a decline in performance, which tends to happen when players lose confidence that what you are trying to do isn't working. This leads to a lack of focus and effort.

LOLOL.

Same here, we really should keep the focus more on Quin. He's on autopilot and we're headed toward a mountain.

I actually like our roster, and Royce and Joe (just due to age catching up with him) are the only two key players I'd want to trade. Perhaps Conley if we got the right mix back.

I've felt like the system has actually hindered some players ability to play. Last night, even with the L, as others pointed out Chris Paul was out of breath. The Jazz had shots all over the court and make Phx work on both ends. That normally doesn't happen.

I am fine with money ball, but you have to look at stats on both sides of the court (and utilize the entire court to your advantage). Quin has never done that. He has no flexibility, and gets outcoached regularly. I'd love to see this team with a coach with a different viewpoint. I don't think we need a sea change with our sets, but we need tweaks on both ends, which apparently Quin is unwilling or unable to make.

I'll continue to be a fan of the Jazz, they are my team. But while Quin is around it will be hard to watch what they are doing.

That www.jazzfanz.com is the strongest force in making me not be a Jazz fan?

You know when we get the @JazzAvenues quotes and it's obvious that a fanbase is toxic?

Imagine how all of you play in those threads on other fan sites. Where do you think you rank on that scale?

This site is broken. So many of you are toxic. You hate this team more than any rando NBA fan. Why are you even here?

I'm ready for a break. I'm putting myself on another self-imposed ban until the playoffs start... If there's any reason to come back at that point.

This is the worst this site has ever been. Corbin years were more positive. This is a ****ing cesspool of negativity and hate.
Dude you helped me to see that this was a giant family and not as dysfunctional as most in that respect I imagine. That's what I've grown to love about this place - everybody has their own uniquely conceived ideas about this team and aren't afraid to express them. Look around at other social media sites, most are robotic lockstep machines. We get to be problem solvers around here, I mean even if it has no application in the real world.....I mean who doesn't want to be the one that solves their team's problems, if only hypothetically. And for the most part, folks are pretty tolerant of opposing opinions - I for one love that!!! (Honestly I think that the median IQ level on the this board is higher than most Athletic Forums.)

Now I know I teed you off the other night though you are too considerate to call me by name or give me the red star "DISLIKE". That was the Warriors game Sunday night and I was reporting a bit on the final minutes of the Kansas City / Buffalo game. I apologize but it was early in the GS/Utah game, hardly anybody was posting and I honestly just wanted to share the unbridled joy that a true sport's fan (as opposed to an inveterate gambler) feels when they are witnessing one for the ages. Some are calling that the greatest game in NFL history! All I know is that I've never seen anything like it and glad it wasn't something that came up later that I'd missed out on. In any event, I was by no means trying to be disrespectful to the Jazz. I love this crazy team, even if the coach frustrates the living **** out of me (even if he is brilliant).

In any event, let me just close by saying that this is a pretty cool little cyber family with all our spats, slights and disagreements notwithstanding. Dude you're one of our own, and funny as **** too, when you're not going slightly postal on somebody's a$$! So in any event, if you decide to take a break from the clan for awhile, look forward to seeing you for the Christmas Holidays when we're all together again.........you know what I mean, the playoffs baby!!!
