He gets steals and rebounds at a higher rate and his team is better defensively with him on the floor than off it. J Rich might be better there but his teams this year and last were both worse with him on the court defensively... He also got benched in the playoffs last year. He's making his shots now but his shot comes and goes.I sure wouldn't. Spent some time watching game footage when both their names popped up, with particular emphasis on defense. Richardson, in my opinion, is so much better there. Lamb's a liability no matter what his advanced stats or wingspan might suggest.
You know those two have a plan... Stevens gets canned as the GM and then gets back into coaching after a short break. Stevens becomes our head coach someday. Ainge is great at making deals with former buddies.I wonder if Ainge has compromising photos of Brad Stevens.
Don't really see it changing things honestly. They could do a trade with us for a lot of reasons... to get some breathing room from the tax for next year for instance. They still have to do something and it almost certainly involves Schroeder.I think the chances of a good Boston trade just decreased now that Jaylen Brown is not an all-star. Apparently Brown would be due $1.4M if he made the all-star team. This means that Boston now has a much easier path to get under the luxury tax (not only to save any tax, but also to participate in the $12M or so distribution teams who are under the tax will get after the season). The only reason a favorable trade with Boston made any sense is to help them get under the tax. But Brown's exclusion from the all-star team now means Boston has easier paths to get there (because they don't have to shed as much salary/there may be more partners available for them).
Brown could still make the team as a reserve, and be owed the bonus, but there's no guarantees that he's getting there, of course.

I still doubt Smart is really available but maybe the extension scares them a lot. If they want to swap J Rich for JC the tax math is a little easier without the AS bump for Brown but they still have to move Nesmith or Schroeder for less salary.
Clarkson and Ingles for Smart and Richardson is almost exactly the same money. The money is pretty goofy to make it work.... I wouldn't get your hopes up we get both... or even one of them.
Do you happen to know what the actual math is? (I'm asking because I don't think I do.)Don't really see it changing things honestly. Adds like 16M in salary for next year and I think we are a repeater next year... so you need to be able to dump Bogey or that move would add like $80M or some **** to our already bloated payroll. Maybe you do it and figure it out later but they also likely want a pick in that deal. Maybe that is why Boston would consider it I guess.Clarkson and Ingles for Smart and Richardson is almost exactly the same money.

I don't but ESPN trade machine has it at 3.8M and I think I've seen the 2.7M or 3M number somewhere. So lets say they are 1.5-2M but if he later is added in as an injury replacement you'd likely rather just make sure you are covered. I think they dump Schroeder (i get the feeling they don't like him anyway) they also want to play Pritchard more. Now that Smart is back Schroeder is expendable.Do you happen to know what the actual math is? (I'm asking because I don't think I do.)
I mentioned a day or two ago that Spotrac showed $2.7 million for them to get under the cap, while Marks gave a figure somewhere under a million. Today when I saw about Brown's all-star bonus, I figured that that's part of the answer for why the two numbers differ, but it can't be the full answer. There are perhaps other bonuses that may or may not kick in that Marks and Keith Smith are counting differently?
But $1.4 million is a pretty big difference when you're that close to the threshold. It might turn out to be the difference between needing to find a team to take on a useful player or just finding a team to take on Bruno Fernando's salary, for example.
Good point, since the all-star game comes after the trade deadline this year. You don't want to make a 10-12M assumption so I'm guessing they cut the salary needed either way.
Jimmy has been banged up but I think Brown is probably behind a couple dudes. What’s the injury landscape of the eastern conference and the likelihood of Brown being named as a replacement?
Ohhhhh KD will be out. Hmmmmmm.... gonna be close. What’s the injury landscape of the eastern conference and the likelihood of Brown being named as a replacement?
Good. It will depress his trade value. Maybe instead of Clarkson for Smart, we can do Ingles and Clarkson for Brown to help them shave a cool million off the books.Jimmy has been banged up but I think Brown is probably behind a couple dudes.
