Trade deadline discussion

If we are getting either of those guys, I really hope we send Gay instead of Royce. Replacing 1 good one with 1 great one still leaves us with holes.

I don't think our defense actually improves by trading Royce for Barnes/Grant. Those guys aren't better defenders...but between Royce, JC, and Gay other teams are definitely going to want Royce. Have to give something to get something.

You can then use that exception and a little draft capital to get Justin Holiday. Its a precursor to another deal. I think NOP is the most obvious JC destination... then you can figure out the other stuff a little easier.

I think Holiday's vaccine situation really complicates things. It worsens the QOL for the whole team. I'd be upset if I had to have more restrictions.

OTOH, IND isn't a bad JC situation either. Their entire MO as franchise has to been to hang around and stay somewhat relevant. Decent player's like JC with years on their deal are their lifeblood. Lamb+Craig for JC+Dok would fit into their tread water mentality because Lamb isn't likely to come back.

I've mentioned Lamb recently... really like him. Craig would be solid too.

Least sexy trade ever... Whiteside to Milwaukee for Semi and a 2025 indiana pacers second round pick they own. Milwaukee needs another tall human to annoy Embiid in the playoffs? Brook insurance.

Haha, the jazz being hesitant to include draft picks, must be the Aing influence. Any other year the jazz are giving draft picks away like hot cakes, good I hope we don’t give any picks.
It’s pretty smart tbh. If you think the team is rebuilding in the next 3-4 years that pick you give could be huge.

Yeah I'm a big fan as well. I thought he was very underrated before he got to IND and he's mostly been injured since he got there. I actually thought IND got away with a steal when they exchanged Lamb for Bogey way back when, but that took a turn with his health. He's just a really solid player when healthy. Shoots it, rebounds, handles/passes a bit, and makes plays on defense with his great length and good athleticism.

That would be pretty wild if we landed Richardson and Smart.

The money is pretty goofy to make it work.... I wouldn't get your hopes up we get both... or even one of them.

Great if they’d do it. Sounds like a crazy high get but I haven’t been following Semi.

Ingles, Royce and picks would probably be the deal. Maybe we throw in a young player. I don't see the Kings wanting Bogdanovic.

Could be a three team trade? Maybe with Boston since we are linked to them and Sac the most often. Maybe something like this? I think everyone team gets better in some aspect. We get taller and more athletic. Though we drive our salary even higher over the next few years as none of these are expiring.

He's a guy I could see them giving away for nothing and it being a big win for someone. I think Ingles plus a sweetner for Lamb and Craig would work on their end too. I don't think they love have Craig's money on the books for next year and it gives them some breathing room from the tax.

He's trashy trash... he's just filler and we waive him.

Like I'd rather get Lamb than Richardson... and I think the asking price on Richardson is likely higher.

That's an interesting comparison. I'm not sure, I guess it depends on the Jazz tolerance for taking on an extra deal of money. But maybe they like Richardson at that number and see it as a plus.

Richardson is definitely having a better season and has higher trade value right now, but I might be with you on Lamb. I think IND would be eager to trade Lamb for someone like JC because they won't resign Lamb and don't have another way to acquire a player like JC. They won't be a cap space team, so Lamb would be gone for nothing. I think they'd honestly want JC more than Ingles + sweetener.

Done... send it in to the league.

You are likely also taking back either Craig or Holiday so that Indiana doesn't jump over the tax. I didn't see them as a great JC destination because they have Brogdon, Duarte, LeVert, McConnell, but Carlisle likes playing lots of guards.

Likely depends on what they do with Turner or Sabonis... they have a path to being a cap space team... either way there is a deal here somewhere.

I sure wouldn't. Spent some time watching game footage when both their names popped up, with particular emphasis on defense. Richardson, in my opinion, is so much better there. Lamb's a liability no matter what his advanced stats or wingspan might suggest.

Yeah I just kind of see it as, would the Pacers want Torrey Craig or Jordan Clarkson? I don't think Lamb is in their plans at all. They do have a lot of guards so maybe that answer is still Craig, but I think they still might like JC. Especially if they move LeVert.

NOP remains the most obvious JC destination, I really hope the Jazz can scrounge together that trade with POR and NOP that gives us Covington, POR out of the tax, and NOP gets in a good position to make the play in tournament.
