Trade deadline discussion

Gosh y'all are wearing the Kings out.

What did you expect them to do, keep Haliburton, re-sign him and pay Fox, Hield and Haliburton a combined $90 million to try to do the same thing?

It isn't perfect, but it could work better than what they got now.
they should 100% try to trade fox. westbrick is kinda already the ceiling for a point guard who doesn't know how to play in a half court setting.

Sabonis is a good player... to say they did this because they were worried about paying Haliburton is dumb. It's the same logic OKC used to dump Harden... but only if they did it 1.5 years before they actually did.

There was just no cap reason to do this.

The roster is so wonky now too... Fox, Mitchell, Barnes?, Sabonis, Holmes? or Fox, Mitchell, Holiday, Barnes, Sabonis? The defense is so bad... and Fox is a big part of that... Sabonis will make that so much worse... so you play Holmes and Sabonis together?

Sabonis also can't shoot. So do you go with a bad spacing lineup or a bad defensive lineup. They also gave away a GREAT shooter in the deal. I think there is a legit shot they either stayed about the same or got slightly worse now and will definitely be worse going forward. They have a couple days to figure out a way out of their log jam and make some sense out of it I guess.

I don't get it. Teams will just drop into the paint on them... who will hurt them from 3? Sabonis at the 5 lineups are already flammable... with the kings perimeter guys pouring some gas on that fire I'm sure it won't be worse???
The cap thing is a long way off, but Fox and Haliburton did not compliment each other well. They are both ball dominant. Fox for sure and Haliburton the more and more confident he gets.

Do you trade Fox for more bad contracts and negative value? Are you tired of Hield and can't find a buyer?

Like I said, it wasn't good enough for Sacramento, but I don't hate it for them.

if lakers try to package THT in any deal with picks, I'm sure teams will tell them that they just want the picks.

Hield is off the books before Haliburton gets an extension, though.

If they can, sure. If not, I really don't think the following is a horrendous lineup:

Fox
Mitchell
Holiday
Barnes
Sabonis

I don’t think you’ve watched Haliburton. Their weren’t fit issues. If Fox wasn’t playing like dog **** it works even better.

I understand your position… I’m good here.

I thought Hield would be there for the first year of Haliburton's extension. I could be wrong.

So even if they are gone, you're talking about Haliburton and Fox combining to make $70 million when they don't compliment each other at all.

I don't think it's the end of the world. I know people like to complain or point fingers at somebody, but jeez.

Its in part because THT's contract sucks... cuz he sucks.

I wouldn't want Ross. But if he's worth a first then JC should be... I could be talked into THT and that Lakers first for JC.
That's what I immediately thought. THT may even play better around here. Lakers grind young talents.

So even if they are gone, you're talking about Haliburton and Fox combining to make $75 million when they don't compliment each other at all.

Haliburton's TO is 23/24, Hield is FA in '24.

keep in mind besides Sabonis, Pacers also took on Kings garbage contracts in Hield, gave up two useful rotations in Lamb(expiring)/Holiday in exchange for the hot garbage that is Tristian Thompson, and a draft pick for Haliburton. I think it has more to do with Pacers bidding hard for Hali's service than the Kings wanting Sabonis, who's very much on a bargain deal himself.

Cool it was a great move and the whole front office and ownership group should have a dinner party to celebrate maybe going from ****** to kind of ****** for one year.... I mean they have been ****** for a long time so that should totally direct our future planning and current decisions.

Its a total bull **** move... the fans won't be impressed with a 40 win season even though they haven't seen one in a while... These are the EXACT types of moves that will keep them ****** for 15+, 20+, 25+ years. Don't try and short cut from ****** to mediocre and neuter your future.

They have made solid decisions the last few years in the draft and needed another year or two of solid decisions to have something pretty good going. They have no patience... its not coming from the fanbase... its coming from the ego of the owner and the fans get to suffer.

When I said they would throw a parade, I meant Vivek and the FO. The fanbase has no impact on what Vivek wants to accomplish. You can't tell an owner patience when they don't want patience. They don't get into this game to stockpile draft assets. They get into it for tax breaks, profit, and whatever their heart desires competition wise.

I found this to be humorous:

"Executives have called coach turned decision-maker Brad Stevens “fair” in trade discussions, compared to Danny Ainge’s approach of trying to get your best player for literally nothing. That has streamlined conversations, leading many to believe Stevens wants to subtly add to the core as opposed to tearing it down."

Danny Ainge just relies too much on other teams GMs being possessed by Billy King, arguably the worst GM of all time

Huh... you think they get into it for the tax breaks. The money stuff is nice but this **** is about ego for a lot of these dudes. The fanbase calling Vivek a clown and hating him has an impact. I know some folks who are very rich... they do a lot of ego ****... they care very much what others think.

If he wants to throw himself a parade that is fine... but a parade without the adoration of others is just a bunch of ****ing weirdos walking down the middle of the street while the sidewalks stay vacant.

Vivek does not want the ego hit of being the nba franchise with the longest playoff drought. He wants to push for the play in game... this wasn't about stockpiling assets... this was about not being patient and giving away an actual player that was good (I know they got another player back). These guys built businesses throughout the years. They understand patience and timing. This is about not being labeled a loser.

Well if we’re gonna have that *******, then he should’ve been on the phones with Sacramento and NO.

I just wanna again go on record (again) that I hate Danny Ainge. It seems like Ryan brought him in for the specific reason of having Ainge tell him how to run a franchise and I’m pretty ****ing worried about it.

I understand all that.

Go ahead... listen to Woj talk and then tell me the Kings did something smart and well thought out. TIA

The Kings will always be the kings. Two weeks ago Hali said this.

“I refuse to let the culture of what the Kings have been in the past take over … I'm gonna help fix this.”

Two weeks later….. kings ship him out. I found this hilarious.
