What's new

Schedule is released!

FWIW, the Jazz's two least hectic months will be January (15 games in 31 days) and April (13 games in 26 days). Should Utah find itself in a race for the 8th seed in late-April - they have somewhat of an advantage with just 5 games (4 of them at home) in the final 12 days of the season.

March (19 games in 31 days) is brutal, and February starts out tough (including the 3-games in 3 nights road trip) although the All-star break divides it up a bit (13 games in 22 days pre-allstar break/post-allstar break begins w/a back-to-back to close out the month).

The Jazz's schedule- 66 games in 117 days is only 1 game off the 98-99 50 game marathon - and they didn't even play an all-star game in '99. (One positive is this year's playoffs should operate on a relatively normal schedule while the '99 playoffs were played at an insane pace.)

Can't really complain because it's going to be this way for every team, but whoever wins a championship should have an asterisk next to the title. Just like in 98-99; it's just going to be a crazy season, and for once it's better to be young and rebuilding rather than older and contending.

Two Games on TNT, Four NBATV games and six games on espn. pretty good number on national televised games.

Yeah and our first game VS Lakers will be on TNT.

Talk about embarrassing ourselves in front of the whole Nation!!

I just hope we don't lose by triple digits...

Well, we would be making history at least. :)

All of a sudden, I am very nervous. I know that we have a ton of potential, but we could lose a ton of games. I think the season depends on how well Devin Harris can run this team. Heaven help us if Ty starts Bell at the 2. I sure hope Ty has some magic up his sleeves.

Don't measure this season in wins and losses - just enjoy it. For once The Jazz have some real talented young players with legitimately high ceilings - instead of the usual bunch of over-acheiving second rounders and interchangeable, "heady" veterans that they picked up off the dung heap (save for Raja Bell of course)

Getting to watch a full season of Derrick Favors will be worth the cost of NBA League Pass alone.

If they lose they keep their draft pick in a nice draft. So even when they lose they can't lose.
Hopefully GS will have the 8th worst record.

I have low expectations and I'm still really excited.

GS has some money to throw around in free agency. If they amnesty Biedrins they could snag Nene or Chandler, which would make them better than we want them to be.

I actually think we have more televised games on this schedule then we did when they released the 82 game schedule.

Wow, the season starts with 4 games in 5 nights and 6 games in 8 nights. That's tough.

I think that is actually preferable. Every team is going to have to face that at some point in the season, at least we get it at the start when we are still fresh.

Schedule isn't too bad.

What stands out, though, is the stretch of 13 of 16 at home.

Even the 3 in a row is cushioned. Two days off, home game, day off, three in a row, two days off.

Only one five game road trip, though having two roadies, a home, then three roadies will feel like a long road trip.

feelin better

It makes sense to spread the minutes around so that players don't bonk and get injured.

Edit: Memo should get spot minutes or take some games off.

I agree. However, what concerns me about a 20-46 type season is how that'll affect the psyche of our young core going forward. How would they respond to it? Jefferson's never really won. Has Burks? Colorado didn't even make the tourney last year? Kanter has only played internationally and could wither if things don't go his way, so to speak. Hayward seems to be a winner and Favors' GT team made the Sweet 16 his freshman year I think, which, imo, was overachieving given the point guard play and head coach there but still. Are these guys mentally tough and do they have that Alpha male, nothing's gonna stop me nor us, type attitude in the long run? I guess only time will tell and like you said, we should simply enjoy the season.

i think I'm hoping for 29-37 or better.
