By all accounts I've seen she is highly regarded and highly qualified.

Thoughts?

I look forward to her confirmation. I don't know enough to comment in any other way, and hope I don't feel the need to go into deep dives thereto.

It will be interesting, and sad, to see the attempts at slander and libel that will inevitably be used to discredit her.

Amy Coney-Barrett took some heat from media and politicians regarding the belief system of a school that she was on the board for a while. I wonder if Jackson will receive the same treatment from the same entities.

The same media entities and the same politicians, or just the media and politicians?

The former. If it bothered them once, no reason it still shouldn’t. Consistency, yes?
Can you give some context to this? What was the criticism based on Barrett's position on the board for a school?

She will get enough votes. We already know that some will vote N regardless because she ate a pizza from the inside out back in 4th grade, but I think she will get a few Y from some of the chamber leaders who don’t want to look like obstructionists going into midterms.

I think this is exactly correct. I believe that every single vote from the Republican side will be with an eye towards their own campaigns. Any GOPer who may face a challenger from the right will vote 'No' to strengthen their right-wing credentials. Any GOPer not expecting a strong challenge from a more conservative candidate in the primary should vote to confirm Jackson. Elections have consequences and the best the GOP can do is to not shoot themselves in the face in a battle they already lost. Jackson's fitness for the position is irrelevant. The vote isn't about her but about getting the seats needed to get the next justice nominated.

What I don't want to have happen is it turns into a weeklong spectacle which takes us away from actually using that week to solve actual issues. You know, the role of their elective positions and what not.

Most politicians are more interested in being WWE characters vs. governing.

Exactly. I would expect Y from some such as Graham (perhaps Mitch) who is actually been very supportive of getting justices nominated and the due process itself regardless of party ideology. Mike Lee? Not a chance.

Don’t they do that with all of them ?
Yeah pretty much. Can't just question their record or stance on specific issues, but have to drag them through the mud.

You know that one time 35 years ago when a teenaged SC nominee said something inconsiderate to a chubby girl? Need to make sure they get beat up for that one for sure. No one is allowed to make mistakes and learn and grow in this country, what do you think this is, north korea?

Seeing as how you won't use capitalization correctly on proper nouns, I will ensure you never get my vote for any future JF awards.

Somewhat foggy because it’s been a few years, but I believe the argument was that the schools belief system was some type of proof and/or evidence that ACB would overturn Roe v Wade, be biased, too religious, and the like

And does this nominee also have ties to some sort of fundamentalist religious school?

@Gameface

I looked it up. Here’s a relevant article.
