It's scary stuff. Wife was like "man I hate what the world is right now". I told her right now might be the best it is for a while... or ever.I'm afraid for what this will mean going forward.
The end of WWII was supposed to be the end of bigger nations taking over smaller ones just because they can.
I do think this puts massive pressure on Taiwan as China has been edging towards retaking it since broke away in the first place but Xi seems particularly focused on making an actual move possible. If I had to guess what's on the top of his bucket list it would be reuniting Taiwan.
The arguments Putin has made about Ukraine actually being part of Russia are even more true in regard to Taiwan and China.
Well…Because if the United States provides the army then countries are less likely to build up their own making them less capable of waging war and the world gets some measure of peace through impotence.
Because the United States gave them security assurances. Ukraine had thousands of Soviet-era nuclear weapons with a means to drop them on Moscow that would have very much discouraged what Putin is now doing but we asked them to give them up in exchange for security assurances which we are now pretending we never made.
Because Trump kept him in check and some wrongly believed Putin had changed rather than giving Trump credit.
Yes, and they'll start nuclear weapons programs of their own because see the answer to #2.
Progressivism is here until the end I fear.
Fish and they invented it because little fish have to come from somewhere so it might as well be delicious.
Yup.
God invented caviar, in order to produce more sturgeon and other fish. Baseball has never really been played, it is the 2nd most boring "sport" on the planet and barely qualifies as more than a walk in the park. Oh noes I had to run 50 feet one time in an hour and a half!I'm sure this series of events will foment a lot of 20/20 hindsight questions. Things like:
1. We don't live in a post-World War II world any more. So why is the other side of the world so reliant upon the United States to keep the peace, rather than people/countries on their same continent?
2. Why did Ukraine not do more to militarize and protect themselves against this issue?
3. How could anyone believe that Putin would do anything differently than he's done, given his leadership history?
4. Will the world quietly take the nuclear "threats" that Putin is making?
5. When will the US eventually graduate to a country filled with citizens that identify as Americans, and not as some other ethnic group where their ancestry hails from - thereby creating some sort of larger affection for a country other than their own, and leading to groups of citizens demanding action by the US when it may not necessarily be the smartest thing long term for the country?
6. Who invented caviar and why?
7. Will baseball ever be played again?
And before you castrate me for asking the above questions - DON'T. THEY'RE JUST FREAKING QUESTIONS. You're welcome to theorize about them or even answer them from your perspective, but if you even so much as throw any shade at me for asking the questions that should be being asked from the perspective of a United States citizen, I will report your sorry tushy.

Sometimes I think Aliens planted us here and then they watch how stupid and greedy we can get until we eventually annihilate ourselves... Like an alien Squid Game where they bet about a nuclear holocaust and who will set it off or will it be us destroying the climate.
The end of WWII was just the end of that conflict regarding people standing up to a bully, on a global scale. Unless we are willing to continually stand up to the bullies of the world, we are doomed to repeat our history, as the saying goes.I'm afraid for what this will mean going forward.

I think you mean the world and especially Europe. Also, it wouldn't be joe he is giving the finger to but actually the united states of america. (and again, he mostly giving the finger to ukraine, and after that he is giving the finger to europe. The U.S. is somewhere after that.)Lol crazy Vlad just gave good ol Joe the proverbial middle finger
Great book. One of his best imo.
It's kind of crazy how some writers can be extremely high volume and still write very good books and others can take years and years to complete a single book.Great book. One of his best imo.
Off thread topic but my wife and I went through a list of all of King's books to see how many we each have read. I have read like 53 and she was at like 46 iirc.
Its crazy to me that anyone can write a big *** book of fiction. Even one. Authors amaze me. Of course so do many many professions. It's kind of crazy how some writers can be extremely high volume and still write very good books and others can take years and years to complete a single book.

So funny that people want to make Russias invasion of Ukraine into some kind of Putin vs Biden thing. This is a global issue and the area of the globe where its taking place is on a different continent than the one the United States (and Biden) are on.
Maybe your country can do something? No? Why not?uhh lol ok .. as the leader of the Western world and most significant military power that could intervene by multiple magnitudes Joe Biden had nothing to do with Putins threat of the " worst ever consequences" should any outisde force attempt to intervene. Nor does Joe have anything to do with Russia's threat to target sensitive US interests in response to sanctions. It was probably directed to the King of Norway
Lol. Poor baby. You got Biden on your mind all the time. Putin makes a vague threat at no one and everyone. It could only be directed at Biden.
