Oni's shooting was fine. His problem was extreme yips and nervousness whenever he got the ball. Very tragic type player.

Defense was good too. He did foul a lot when tasked with guarding very good players, but his overall D was good.
So his shooting was fine except mentally he can't make shots? His defense was fine but the foul stuff is a significant problem... he may have figured it out though... or honestly if the refs are more familiar with you they may give you a longer leash.

He just wasnt putting himself in positions to make plays because he was constantly making mental mistakes or overthinking.

When he got spot up shots he was fine. The problem was that all he could do.

Oni is a dime a dozen too, but in a different (athletic) archetype.

His shooting was fine? By what metric?

His final 30 games of the year he was 10/43 from 3 for a whopping 23.3%.

It seemed like every game he had wide open corner threes and would brick them one after another.

Lol yes his shooting was fine he just wasn’t making shots and his defense was fine he just couldn’t stop fouling!!! No big deal!!!

idk why you are breaking down a portion of his career like that says something, especially since his final year he was only getting garbage time minutes and not actual minutes.

He was a career 33% 3pt shooter.

You should be in a rhythm towards the end of the year and playing your best basketball. Not being a scrub who fouls and bricks wide open corner threes.

He was not getting garbage time minutes he was legit getting subbed in the 1st and 2nd quarter routinely playing over 10+ mins a game towards the end of the year. Did you block it out of your mind because he was such ***?

Bro what are you trying to argue with me about?

Im so confused lmao. I never said Oni wasnt a scrub. I just have actual nuance about why he failed. His skill-set was never the issue. It was all mental. If you can't delineate between the two, that's on you.

And it's not that hard to find shot data on players. Oni was a 40%+ shooter on wide open shots over the duration of his career with the Jazz.

You literally said his shooting was fine and his defense was fine. He couldn’t make shots and he fouled a ton. That makes no ****ing sense. Then you said all he played is garbage time minutes which is another lie. You are talking out of your *** I’m just calling you on it.

Uhhh, that's not what I said.

I said his defense was good, but *he fouled too much when guarding very good players*(not every player is Devin Booker, he defended plenty of players very well and played good team defense)

And he did make shots, his issues was he couldnt put himself into position to get these quality shots because the speed of the game prevented him from processing information quickly enough to do anything other than sit in the corner (he had many fastbreak layup opportunities where he would tragic bronson a pass to the corner instead of taking a wide open layup because he was so poor at this kind of high speed decision making, probably due to yips).

If you're going to try and start some dumb argument with me, actually address things I say and dont pick and choose.

Oni was trash plan and simple. He stuck out like a sore thumb when he played. Such a waste of minutes.

Yeah, he was pretty bad. Certainly was not a waste of minutes. His talent level is pretty large given his athletic tools, length, and spot up shooting ability. I hope he is able to put it together at some point because he is certainly a NBA player (on the level of a House) if he can put it together from a confidence/mental approach.

I've been saying that we needed to add someone good enough to be a legitimate option in our playoff/closing lineups. I thought House wasn't a good flier for Covid spot, but I had no idea he would be the one to break through. It was instant too, playing above Paschall (who was playing well himself) instantly. Quin really trusts him. Maybe it's because both had their career's in jeopardy due to mischief. We owe that infamous masseuse.

What is crazy is House is exactly the kind of player we have needed. Good D, passable 3 pt shooter, energy guy with a bit of an attitude. Pretty lucky he fell into our laps. We need to lock him up for a few years. More or less slot him into Ingles' spot. Of course, we should bring back Ingles next year on a vet min to help us get our 2nd ring.
