Dallas lose Chandler to Knicks

This disappoints me. I liked the Mavs team. It won't be the same without Chandler. I also don't like the way this is shaping up as far as small market teams are concerned. This looks like another Miami situation.

They lost him because Cuban isn't giving out any contracts longer than one year. He's trying to clear capspace to go after Deron and/or Howard.

Wow, they are losing Butler and probably Barea too?!!! What the hell, they win a championship, and 3 key guys want to leave? Weird.

Butler didn't even contribute due to his injuries in the playoffs and finals so that's not a huge loss but still a loss. Chandler is a loss but Cuban realizes he needs a PG quick and why not go after Deron? Barrea, that sucks but he played out of his mind last year in the Playoffs.

Butler was a starter before he got injured, so I consider them all key guys, even though what you said is true.

I guess the Mavs know what they are doing, but I'd think players and management of a team that just won it all would be both be more motivated to stick together and try to repeat.

They don't really have a choice here. They need a PG and cap room. They don't have time to develop a point with Dirk getting older. I think it's a wise move. You miss the chance of being back to back champs (maybe) so then you can possibly build a championship team and not have that "maybe". Plus, with whats going on with Howard and Paul, they need all the talent they can get.

Dallas is a major market.

That's not the the point.
Chandler is going to NYC to join Carmello and Amare, like Lebron Wade, and Bosh to Miami.

Except it's nothing like that. Chandler just won a ring, and would have likely stayed in Dallas to chase another one if he could have gotten a 4 year deal. Cuban offered one year at 20 million. With his history, he would have been nuts to not jump his chance to get seriously paid.

For the impact Bosh has had in Miami, particularly the playoffs, and the impact Chandler has had in Dallas, I would say right now Chandler > Bosh.

On a related note, I read earlier today that Baron Davis is signing with the Knicks. Not a big threat anymore, but depending on the terms, it might be a good move for them.

I think that Dallas will miss having Chandler now, man they played so crappy yesterday. And I actually really like the pick up of Baron Davis for New York. He did average something like 15 pts, 6 asts last year. Davis>Bibby

The Knicks have a helluva front court. I assume they have no depth, but still, I could see them beating a good team in the playoffs.
