What's new

Do you really want Josh Howard??

Karl Malone fathered a child with a 13 year old and they put a statue of him in front of the arena. I'm sure most people won't know/care.

Josh Howard may be a pothead and I'm not sure how well thought-out his reasoning is here, but if his biggest problem is that he refuses to participate in the jingoistic, ritual farce that is the performance of the anthems. It's a sports event. The Mavericks do not represent the entire USA, nor do their opponents here. An NBA game is hardly the sort of formal occasion that calls for the playing of the national anthem.

I don't stand up for anthems, either. I guess the terrorists have won, then.

The best part is, the anthem in the OP was at an Allen Iverson flag football game, not even an NBA game.

Anyway, I don't care about the anthem thing at all, but I don't particularly want him on the team anyway.

Meh. He'd be one in the long line of players the Jazz got about 5-10 years after I wanted them. Starting with Tom Chambers.

He was trying to sound cool. It didn't work. I've been guilty of that many times. Fortunately, those times are not on youtube.

Main reasons I'm not wild about Howard are durability concerns and age-athleticism correlations. I don't think he's a bad apple but I also don't think he's the veteran mentor you'd like to see either. A 1-year deal is really all I'd consider giving him.

I think it is a few years too late. Howard is not the same player he was in Dallas. I would rather let Hayward/Burks/CJ cover the SF/SG position.

We Are definitely not all like this. Hell, english is my third language, and I was born in Germany, but you won't find an opportunity where Im not yelling our national anthem as proudly as I can when the moment arises.

I agree. Having a veteran just to have another veteran isn't enough. He sounds like he has a bit of an attitude problem. It may be in the past but I'd rather not have to worry about it and instead give our young guys the playing time. Just sign another young SF and take a chance that way to find another young diamond.

As for disrespecting the national anthem: To me, the national anthem is symbolic, along with our flag, for all the men and women who have sacrificed blood, sweat and lives to protect the rights and freedom we enjoy on a daily basis. Anyone who uses the national anthem or our flag as a political/personal statement is showing they don't remember or appreciate what has been done for them. It's a very selfish approach, to be honest. I also think it does more harm to your position than helps.
