Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

$30M would give them almost enough space for a max contract player but it isn't ish?

You win with elite star players, Dallas has one of the best in the league. Don isn't anywhere close to Luka.
Max players are famous for taking less than the max lmao

I'm sure moving off of Josh Green to free the rest of the cap space to acquire a 2nd max player would be an absolute deal breaker for the Mavericks.

Dallas still has roster flexibility around Luka. If you had to inherit one team as a GM would you take the Jazz or Mavericks in their current state?

This offseason has made me pretty meh on Ryan as an owner. We needed to be decisive because the moves that we make will dictate our roster/outlook for the foreseeable future and instead we've half stepped every chance we could. And in typically Jazz fashion, being hesitant to make moves will ensure that we're not good enough to contend but also not bad enough to tank and acquire the star talent required to contend.

Whichever owner let me blow the team up

If you were tasked with building a contender considering their current roster/cap situations which team are you taking?
Whichever team I can get more draft assets for, then I'd build a contender through the draft.

I would assume the Jazz roster could get you more total 1st rounders. You could probably get higher quality 1st with Luka, but not as many.

So I'd probably take the Jazz.

You're thinking like a small market owner/GM- most specifically Jazz owner/GM.
I would pick Dallas as it's more likely to attract talent (and with this talent make draft assets if things dont go as planned).
Luka is also a better recruiting pitch than DM, Gobert will ever be.

The Jazz have better UFA signings in their history than the Mavs do....

Until they sign that max guy they havent signed that max guy.

And even if they do, they have to get rid of two starters to do so. They got no good draft assets.

The Jazz and Mavs are both equally stuck. Luka is going to ask out eventually.

What is the path forward for the Mavericks after they lose Brunson? They have no cap space or a way of creating space without getting rid of multiple starters, they don’t own a pick next year and the trade packages they could put together are trash.

The Jazz could've potentially acquired the 16th or 18th pick this year.

The Hawks and the Bulls were both playoff teams without Rudy last year and we know how much he lifts a teams regular season win ceiling. So if you trade him to either of those teams the picks you get back will likely be late in the 1st.

Also it's not just Rudy there were multiple reports that we were shopping Mike, Bojan, and Royce but that we just valued them way higher than the rest of the NBA does.
You realize that Chicago would be acquiring other teams picks right? That's what held up the Chicago trade.

The Jazz are currently struggling to move any of our players. Luka would net the biggest trade package in NBA history.

They can give Jalen Brunson significantly more money then anyone else but it’s probably not worth going into the luxury tax to keep him.

You don't know that that's what held up the Chicago trade. There have been a lot of reports that they were unwilling to include Patrick Williams and that's why a trade wasn't made.
