Will Hardy expected to be hired as head coach

Can this guy manage our dynamic? That’s the question. I don’t have much to go on but I’m a little skeptical.

Not sure any of the candidates can. Maybe Bryant would have been tough because everyone knows he's Donovan's guy.

I'm good on the hire. He seems like a guy that would be coaching a developing team rather than a fully formed team.

Probably but I think it was a safe hire either way. Should be able to sustain if we run it back or grow with a young group if we blow it up.

What makes people excited about this hire? Does he have any head coach experience?

About 10 years being on the Spurs staff. Seen as a major up and comer in the coaching world

My ideal scenario was hiring a fresh face like Hardy, and then getting him to entice a Stotts or Vogel to be his lead assistant. Hoping that scenario is on the table. Can't imagine someone like Stotts wants to just spend another year outside the game.

Worked his way up from video assistant to assistant coach and summer league coach for the Spurs. Was on Boston's staff last year and also has experience with USA basketball.

Yep. I hope this "do everything for Don" narrative will go away. It won't because people are stupid. The same people who say Rudy is the only one who tries hard.

this is why I am on board I think. It doesn't mean we are rebuilding by any means but its a signal we are thinking of the organization first. Bryant may very well deserve the job but this hire doesn't seem to have any ulterior motives. It may be the sign that the org is not just going to bend to what Donovan wants.

Yeah, he was with San Antonio but then was hired by Udoka when Ainge left and Stevens was promoted. He has 0 ties to Danny.

I was kidding, but yeah the Ainge Boston connection... I mean I know its the post ainge era but Danny boy was on the damn court two seconds after the final buzzer went off. I think he has a relationship there more than say Johnny Bryant.
