2022 Free Agency Thread

I would say:

Give Oladipo some of the MLE
Re-sign Juancho to a cheaper deal
Sign Yuta Watanabe for whatever it takes
Sign Mike Muscala
Sign Troy Brown JR.

I wouldn’t hate this approach at all - however, I still think the Jazz should look to flip any of Conley, Bogey, Clarkson and/or Gay for something or someone of value. Seems like teams are in overpay mode right now. Would be nice to continue to capitalize on that.

Well yeah, this is the free agency thread, not the trade thread so I didnt throw out the trade ideas.

How so?

Athletic long 2 guard with a lot of potential if he can get healthy. It's a buy low move in a ****** free agency class with very few difference makers.
Nah. Oladipo’s legs are done after rupturing his quad. He's a bench guy at best with no real upside. Let other teams overpay him

Clarkson for Thybulle/Korkmaz/Niang is something I want to see happen. We get under the tax and get some quality pieces.
please Korkmaz sucks and Niang sucked in the playoffs. Thybulle is a good defender but Clarkson is the only offense we have off the bench. He played pretty well down the stretch and during the playoffs once he started to drive to the basket instead of clanking 3pts. I would like to think the Jazz can do better.

Sending Royce with no returning salary and receiving a 1st is better than what I would assume in my wildest dreams.
I cannot believe it too. I like Royce but he is slowing down and needs to becoming off the bench. Don't know if he would accept that role on the Jazz. The fact we got a first was shocking and then not to add salary. Good job Ainge.

He's our 5th best player. I know Conley struggled in the playoffs but he's still a better player overall, and Bogey's definitely better.
I haven't looked at the numbers but I recall Clarkson being one of the more efficient players in the playoffs. He learned to not settle for chucking 3pts and started taking it to the basket. He is our only scoring option off the bench and next to DM the only guy who can create his shot when the offense breaks down.

Like if you can get Oladipo and he can give you 60 games in the season and be ready for the playoffs, could he provide Royce level defense with offensive upside to explode for big games?

I think it's reasonable and you can probably get him for about the same money Royce was making.

I mean, it's obviously a risk, but I think there is still a lot left in the tank if he can stay healthy.

The Jazz got to take a risk if they want to win with this core. You cant play it safe. Either tank or dont be scared to make scary moves.

Can he stay healthy though? This feels a LOT like Rudy Gay 2.0 - not sure the Jazz should prioritize older, oft-injured players for awhile.

In the past three seasons, he’s only played in 60 games total. Maybe as a buy low option where you’re not counting on anything out of him. . . it could work.

What's the alternative? Jeremy Lamb/Garry Harris/Donte Divicenzo?

Also all pretty injury prone and not as talented.
