What's new

2022 Free Agency Thread

Whiteside not being picked up yet, when McGee, Drummond, Jordan picked up bags got me wondering if he's waiting for Gobert to be dealt to re-sign. I have a gut feeling something major is coming up. Possibly tomorrow, or this weekend.

There is DEFINITELY more going on here. We have no perimeter defense and a ****-ton of roster spots right now. I doubt we are planning on filling those spots with minimum dudes.

Whatever the plan is, I hope we hold onto that pick we just got and further add to asset coffers.

People are saying Chicago for Rudy, but I am feeling it’s going to be Toronto or Minnesota. Both have more appealing WINgZzzzz.

With Minny for example, I think we could ask for a package with more picks and young players (McDaniels and Vanderbilt mostly) if we’re agreeing to take on DLo’s salary. Then, we see what we can flip DLo for, or add a third team to the trade and route DLo there with a pick attached in exchange for whatever helpful matching salary that third team has (hopefully expiring salary, so we are all set for the impending rebuild to take on some bad salary for picks when it does happen next year).

Unfortunately, this may all be on hold until the KD sweepstakes is over.

Prepare yourself for disappointment. There is a substantial chance that we fill the remaining spots with minimum guys and ride out the season trying to shoe-horn Mitchell into the all-star game.

The Martin brothers are the only defensive wings left on the market. Maybe the OG/Trent trade does go down.

Or the Jazz say "**** it" and blow it up.

Windy was basically dancing around that possibility on TV (while the other people were fking clueless btw lol). The Royce trade signaled something. I think it’s more likely that pick is used in a John Collins type trade….but we won’t know until it happens or the Durant situation gets resolved. Anything is on the table.

How do we get one of these jobs where we're supposed to be experts? I ****ed up, I should've gone into broadcasting.

You would need to have Lebron be yo HS buddy or be an ex player…lol.

We should have been Simmons doe… that was his original appeal… now he’s just annoying.

It's crazy to say the hinge point of the offseason might be Royce O'Neale, but it seems strangely possible to me. I could see them coming into yesterday feeling like if they could parlay Royce and some other non Don/Rudy players into a John Collins then they would, and/or sign some okay wings off the scrap heap then they retool, but are also prepared to nuke it if those scenarios don't come to fruition.

Well, so far, they haven't.

Go listen to hoop collective this AM. Windy knows something and McMahon knows he knows and tried to push him to put it out there… then Tim mentioned Rudy to Minny… think that’s a blow it up scenario.

I used to really enjoy Simmons. But his takes now are just... is he just getting old or does he just not pay any attention anymore?

I think it was them looking at the win now packages for Rudy and saying… meh… this ain’t gonna work. Also not getting something different but win now for Mike… so they finally faced the facts.
