What's new

Josh Howard has agreed to terms with Utah

A little risky but it may pay off. If he doesn't cause too much trouble, Howard should be able to give us some productive bench minutes. Always good to give guys an incentive to compete for playing time. Can't wait to finally watch a game!

Like it. If only we could package CJ and Big AL for a good shooter now. And if D Harris can distribute a bit better, we could be pretty darn sick. With Favors at center.

It better be one year. At least I think the jazz are saving cap space for this summer seeing as they let every free agent worth a damn go to other teams without trying to get them.

I see Howard taking Miles & Bell minutes rather than Hayward and Burks minutes.

I hope that's the case. Corbin has been very positive about Hayward and Burks. Although, he did like the competition with Miles, too. I'm guessing he'll give a different guy more time every game until the clear best player emerges.

as mentioned earlier, its a low risk high reward signing. with the exception of bell and evans and maybe tinsley, its refreshing to think that the rest of the jazz players in the roster now are either bonafide starters or potential starters for at least an average NBA team. i dont know if im looking at this through homer glasses but the jazz are DEEP, a good kind of deep for this 66 game schedule and b2b2b's

This hinders our future in two ways, imo.

1. It takes away playing time from Hayward and Burks, setting back their development. You can sell that crap all you want about having a "mentor", but imo getting playing time is much more beneficial to one's development than a has-been mentor.
What a concept--young players need time on the floor.

Still totally confused why Dunleavy signed that deal with the Bucks. Either the Jazz didn't reach out or Dunleavy has reasons beyond basketball and the location of the team (Milwaukee is a bit ****ty).
Isn't Dunleavy iffy on defense and equally aged overall (and more expensive at $7.5 million)?

We are really going after those character guys this off season...
I'm glad to see the team put upside (for the price) before character.

I have to agree with some other posters about him desperately wanting to regain his value. If he has any sense(which is up for debate) then he will be a good boy all year long and try to not only be the perfect teammate, but also try to help the team as much as he can.

Maybe Howard returns to 75% of his old self and the Jazz are terrible. Could probably get a thing or two for the future for him. I'm going to add that as a reason to like.

I love the move myself. He's the best 2/3 Utah has had in terms of talent in ages, and this team needs some more veterans. Plus I just don't think his "character" issues are all they are cracked up to be.

Not to mention I love the Jazz FO thinking outside their usual restrictive box.
