Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

Best thing is that if we take all their assets they are stuck with Randle
Them keeping Randle is key. He can absolutely mess stuff up. I find it absolutely hilarious that Knicks fans/podcasters throw him in as a substitute for Barrett like he has value.

Dude really overdoes it. Like, I could believe him having a source that throws him some small tidbits, but he constantly acts like he knows every detail of what's happening.

He didn't even know other teams also hold free agent mini camps.
He also said Rudy's pick and roll defense is horrible... he's hilarious... but in a way that is completely unintentional... very much like the last few Fast and Furious movies (I love them but the unintentional humor is level 10).

I'll take either tbh. They should really be trying to keep Grimes over Quickley... they may try and keep both and keep throwing in picks. I think we get Toppin for sure and a **** ton of picks and likely Fournier. The other pieces I am less confident on.

Also, Thibs won't be the coach there in 12 months. With Brunson/Don/Randle/Barrett... I see a lot of guys that want the ball... I see a lot of dudes who might help teammates a little but not a lot... I see 3 dudes that don't play great defense (though you know Don will play much harder for them). Robinson is cute but he's a cat chasing a laser pointer and has been super injury prone. I think their floor is like a 35-40 win team if healthy.

IF they decide to bend to what Donovan wants immediately by not trading Quickley I will laugh a bit.

I wonder if the Jazz prefer Grimes as well. There’s was a lot of chatter about him during the draft. As much as I like Quickley, I like Grimes too. He’s got three years left on his rookie deal and you have to feel good about him eventually playing 25+ minutes on a playoff team. He fits that mold well.

And might have a little more juice than just 3 and D guy... I also like guys that have shown ability to improve in college like he did.

That’s kinda of central importance:
-He doesn’t make his teams better and his game doesn’t really synergize with others’ games.
-He’s also just not very good.
-His best trait is hustling, but he needs incentive. Unfortunately for the Knicks…
-He got/is getting paid, so the hustling is in relative short supply AND he’s starting to noticeably age. Will be difficult to move. Maybe impossible to move without their picks, so let’s ****ing get them.

He will be our unwitting saboteur.

Anyone else really like McBride? Him and Grimes were two of my guys that draft. Cam Reddish would also be a helluva tank commander…

My prediction is we end up with Quickly, Toppin, Fournier, Rose, Reddish for Donovan and Bogey. We end up with Knicks picks in 23/25/27/29 unprotected and a swap in 2028... we also get the Detroit and Washington picks they own and two second rounders for @infection .

I think both teams want Grimes... He is a much better fit with Don and Brunson than Quickley... I think just like RJ we use that against them.
That would be the best package Knicks could possibly put together for Donovan. Hard for any team to beat that offer.

I like him... he couldn't shoot last year though.

In these mega trades where you get like 5 guys there is bound to be at least one hidden gem right? Hopefully you get a Middleton type throw in.

I’m a little more skeptical of that. In college he had a really bad 2FG% which was a concern of mine. He was better in the pros but that’s because he eliminated all self creation 2’s.

But he’s actually a good shooter and defender, which cannot be said for a lot of 3&D prospects.

I’d want the Milwaukee 25 pick that is only top 4 protected. It’s not likely going to be a lottery pick, BUT they are a pretty old and banged up team. I could see them have a down year or two like the Warriors just did.

I'm talking about in college he improved. Was a high recruit that disappointed and then instead of pouting went to work.
