Jazz and Knicks discussing Donovan Mitchell trade per Shams Charania and Tony Jones

You’re such a basket case, you worry about everything. Lol I’ve noticed that about u.
Uhh. What? Maybe ever being worried about anything is what separates those that are idiots and those that aren’t.

But on the topic, let’s list all of the great NBA players 7’ 4” and taller that also had long careers:
-uhh… Mark Eaton?
-not Yao Ming

All those dudes moved like 7'4 people though and were close to 300 pounds. So not super comparable.

I think Vic is said to be around 210-220 now, so his mature playing weight will probably be around 230-240.

This is worth considering. The Jazz can tank and still have Donovan on the roster. Look at OKC with SGA. Jazz don't need to be in a rush to move Donovan. Surround Mitchell with guys like one of the Thompsons, Dereck Lively, and Jarace Walker, then pass the torch when Mitchell wants to move on.

Apparently jazz and jazz fans will never learn. Doing that is half assing it. Sure, we could be good quick, but then we are sacrificing greatness and a ton of great assets by doing a quick build. Let’s build a talent base first.

Because I am tired of half-measures and treadmilling mediocrity. We have a good chance to suck hard next year and, damn it, we NEED to suck. You move Don for the right package of course, but I want finally play our young players and give them a legitimate chance to prove themselves. Tank for Wem or Scoot, and start fresh. If we need to keep Don, fine. But if we can move him for decent value, all the better.

We also have like zero dudes on the roster that are decent prospects... like we need to just do this damn thing right. Win 18 games next year instead of keeping Don and winning 30-35. It will take those 2023 guys at least a year to be winning players... then you are on the last year of Don's deal and have risked injury for what?

I don't think you're appreciating how easy it is to lose games when your starting frontcourt is Walker Kessler, Jared Vanderbilt and Simone Fontecchio.

That's really cute you think Donovan changes winning that much.

You can easily make this roster cheeks by taking out Conley/Clarkson/Bogey.

Back to the Raptors picks in 24/26/28 - They have to pay Siakham and FVV and those deals will get pretty bloated. FVV is a FA (has a player option) next year... Siakham the year after. Don has three years left. So Raps have Barnes and not much else under team control beyond 2024... Don would be under contract through 2025.

Their window is fast approaching and this might help get them there.

Exactly. While we may not have much right now, one or two may pan into rotation players, but need playing time to develop and learn. Any one of current value on the roster, ship them out for an asset or two and let's blow chunks! Ideally, we will have the proper assets and capspace to start an upswing in three years with significant room to get better. But we must SUCK!

I'm going to say this again -- Walker Kessler, Jared Vanderbilt and Simone Fontecchio.

That's our frontcourt right now... :D

Trade Donovan, sure, but do it opportunistically when we can get the right return.

Half assing it is the worst strategy of them all. Either go all in around Donovan or ship him out and tank for a generational player or two... You cannot tank with Donovan on the roster unless he gets injured. He raises the floor of this team too much. We will be .500 team and will get pick 13, 22 and 27 and will be lucky to pick a single starter out of those picks.

Okay fine... 25 games. I just don't think we would go 100% scorched earth and Donovan... think we'd keep some of that.... could be wrong.

Overall I just trust Ainge if he's willing to wait it out.

I also trust that the Knicks will be very disappointing next year and the value of their young player assets will drop.

It would also be great if the Knicks start out like 4-10 and Evan Fournier is just playing like complete *** and RJ Barrett is actually putting up great stats.

Then the Jazz would have some leverage in being like "Yeah, yall could be great if you dropped Fournier and added Mitchell".

Donovan is not a floor raiser in the slightest.

The Thunder have been tanking just fine with a player better than Donovan.

The Houston Rockets were a rock-bottom lottery team with Christian Wood, De'Sean Tate, Jalen Green, Eric Gordon and Kevin Porter Jr. Surely, if they can lose games, we can figure out how to lose games too.

BTW worth pointing out that even if we win 5 games we get only 14% chance of picking no.1 and about 30% of picking 1 or 2... The NBA really made it a crapshoot.
