The whole reason these arguments can even go on is there is some truth to many of the points on both sides of the blow it up, or build around what we still have topics.

Why would the fans believe in the team we had last year and essentially the few years before that? It had a really good shot to win and basically a path paved in gold to win it 2 years ago. They were rolling, best record in the league stuff and the number 1 seed. They choked it away and it seemed like there was blame thrown around which can be a sign of locker room tensions. It happened to be true this time. This after all the covid crap this just blew up their "second try" stuff. Last year was just putting makeup on a pig. It was a mess with all sorts of people either giving up, trying to make someone else look dumb, or people going after their own stats in their own selfishness... which showed up more than any of the halfhearted attempts at playing as a team.
Fans aren't stupid. Even if we can't see and know everything, we know when things aren't right. The old regime here never had the guts for a true tank, and some of the fans here wished the Millers would have. I think you see that growing number of fans... who probably hated Ainge before he was hired tbh... in support of Ainge right now because he's showing he has the guts to go full tank if he thinks that's what he has to do.
To compare a rotten team to a limb with gangrene, if you get too conservative in an attempt to save as much of the limb as possible, you risk losing your life because if you leave any of the gangrene and it gets to your heart... it's more than just the limb that you lose. It seems to me like Ainge may be thinking... "I can't tell which parts of this team are rotten, so lets just burn it all down and start over because if I try to salvage some and make a mistake I'll have wasted time and have to really do this 5 years down the road when I don't have any leverage or pieces to move."
It's probably better to start the tank on our terms than be forced to tank because of fence sitting.

DM is the best talent we've had since Gobert... I mean Malone and Stockton. He is a likeable person, he is friends with all of the stars around the league, and if anyone has a shot of bringing other stars here and bringing a bit of legitimacy to our team and Utah, it would be him. Does he seem more brand than person now that he's a few years in, yes. Does he drop in on people's BBQ's and stuff now, or hang here a bit during off seasons.. no. Does he need to, not really. If we let him know he's the man, we value him and will build around him... and then do it... good things can happen. He has a fire, and he has a next gear that comes alive in the playoffs. He didn't like our defense being built around Rudy, and Rudy has been moved. We have a new coach. Things are looking up. Let's go.
Ainge now said he'd listen to offers for DM and is in serious talks with NY and maybe others. Maybe Utah does not want to build around DM, and maybe DM has some questions of what direction the FO is going. If this sours DM's attitude as much as him not being the number 1 guy here and having the defense built around Rudy... the idea of moving DM for a good deal may have just turned into a "you better move DM if not now but soon" type of thing because it took less than this to sour soft Hayward on Utah and you saw how he left. Will DM be ok staying here and being the man if a huge deal does not happen for him? Should he be flattered that Ainge only wants like 8 picks, 3 guys, and the Taj Mahal for him?

Take 1 - Scorched earth tank is the only way to go after this poisoned team imploded
Take 2 - DM is a professional and we should build around him and be a competitive playoff team very soon with what we have
Both have valid points, does one take have more valid points and is one more realistic? Which one is more likely to happen? Is Ainge really scorched earth Tank, build MY team from the ground?
