Agreed, but the two picks might be appealing to them. They already showed a willingness to do a similar deal with Dejounte.

I know the whole Dejounte thing was probably predicated on them knowing he didn't really like being there, and they have like 5 years left after the Johnson extension so maybe they arent that excited to trade him, but that would be a far better package than what Utah or Indy could offer.

I mean, it's not like KJ is going anywhere else. Lakers have time to make a decision .

They might prefer to do a uTah trade if they can only give up one pick
 
The Lakers could technically trade the lesser of the two Pelicans/Lakers 2023 1sts since the Pelicans own a pick swap. They could also trade their 2024 1st or 2025 1st with specific language on it since the Pelicans can choose to convey it in 2024 or defer it to 2025.

Pop also loves Keldon... so I doubt they move him... I get that he is a much better asset but I am not sure Spurs want to go down to absolutely nothing for Pop's last ride... but its a possibility.

I think Keldon is a better asset to use in next year's draft after he has pumped his numbers up this year. I think Bogey is a worse asset for the Lakers for sure... but I think he's a better player for them next year.

I think it really has to be 2027 because of the weird stuff they have going on. I would also sneak in a 23 pick swap instead of a second round pick or two. Just make it we get the worse of the NOP or LA pick for the Philly or Minny pick (which ever is higher). Means we'd move from like 25 to like 18 or 19... maybe higher if both LA and NO suck.

I'd take one pick if it is unprotected. If they want Vando I need it to be two... but might allow for some light protections.

I also think Indiana is kind of dumb for not doing Turner/Hield for Westbrook and 1 pick.

I'm pretty close to this. I think we should get one unprotected pick for Bogey plus taking on Westbrook's contract, and then the pick swaps, 2nds, additional firsts depend on what else they get.

If it goes into next week I can get with this theory and will abandon down payment theory. If it happens this week I think its clear what teams were waiting for.

Indy has had Turner in rumors forever... they have to know how the league views him. Maybe they just want to keep him. They are weird/old school and I think it holds em back a bit.

I don't understand why the Jazz would care about keeping Clarkson just because he's taken to Utah....Rudy, Ingles and Favors all absolutely loved Utah and wanted to retire here, and the Jazz had no problem whatsoever trading those guys, hell they even traded Favors twice. Rubio loved it here and became a huge fan favorite, and they shipped him off. If you can flip JC for an asset, then do it.

Heard from multiple reputable sources that Indiana’s owner is particularly high on tearing it completely down and isn’t high on paying someone not to play.

Indiana has solid pieces.

Haliburton/Mathurin/Duarte are solid building blocks. Cy mentioned this a couple weeks ago about moving Turner for a young PF to open up space for Bitadze while having a PF for the future.
