Lakers-Jazz Trade

What year are we working towards for a championship?
I'm sure Ainge wants it to happen ASAP. It's really impossible to say until we see how the lottery balls land beginning next June. FWIW I've noticed that the 7th seed has moved up to the top 3 every year since the new lottery format began. I don't think the Jazz need to be the worst team in order to get a top 3-4 pick.

The thing about having the worst record is you are guaranteed no worse than the 5th pick.

For years the Lakers have thrown away future FRP's for the likes of Dennis Schroeder.
Now all of a sudden their fans say the Lakers won't deal future picks to get off Westbrook and add talent. Lebron is soon to be turning 38 so it's not like they have alot of years to fritter away.
Honestly I'd rather be in the Jazz's position right now with a ton of picks and a few interesting young guys on the roster that are going to hustle. Of course Lakers are still considered a premier destination so they will probably right the ship at some point I imagine.

FWIW I would avoid someone like Herro who supposedly wants a max extension off his rookie deal and can be a RFA next summer. Danny got Sexton on a bit of a discount but Jazz are probably better off not dealing with a Herro type contract situation at this point of a rebuild.

Agreed. How brutal it would be to purposely tank for the worst record and then end up with the 5th pick though. I remember when Knicks tanked hard for Zion and ended up with RJ Barrett. Meanwhile the Pels who had like the 11th worst record ended up winning the lottery that year.

How about Bogey and Gay for Robinson and Herro? If we could somehow get a pick even better.
I don’t think that’s what Ainge wants. Clearly the way Ainge has conducted business this off-season it’s clear he wants picks picks picks of the unprotected variety which is why he dealt with the cavs and not Knicks because they were only offering 2 unprotected picks. So if the Lakers are offering those two picks unprotected, that’s what he’s going to do.

Signing both Favors and Westbrook were the initial mistakes. Such moves require horrendous moves later to make the necessary correction.
Bringing Favors back for the $ they did was a mistake, and everyone here seemed to know it. I like Favs, but bringing in Favs and Conley, and the picks and inflexibility those moves cost the Jazz were huge mistakes.

I like Conley, but I want a player with more emotion. A floor general that is pure business, to the extent that they have never gotten a technical will not have the emotion a team needs in a leader.

I also knew at the time it was a case of Memphis "selling high" after Mike had a great playoff. He just cost too much and didn't move the needle. The Jazz should have gotten him for less. Memphis wanted to get off of his contract.

Yes, of course.

My point is that the Lakers have to make a horrendous move to correct their mistake.

I agree with that logic. Now convince the Lakers of that. Maybe we can get them to hire DL to ensure it gets done.
We don't have to. Palinka is the GM that acquired Westbrook. So he made a mistake that was larger than Lindsay's mistake of re-signing Favors.

The larger the mistake that you make, the greater the correction.

But if you're still hung up on Lindsay, feel free to say more about him.

Lol... Teammates have to be able to call each other out. I don't think those two are going to accept criticism from each other.

That is a locker room combination that is as volatile as any in the league.
They are both huge douche bags who are self obsessed. It's a classic arch rivals team up and become best friends to overcome the odds narrative

So they team up to piss everyone else off I guess?
