What's new

Game Thread Nov 13, 2022 05:30PM MT: Jazz at 76ers

It can be multiple things. Fatigue isnt just from a couple games leading up to this. Jazz have had one of the roughest schedules to start the season those things wear on a team. But it seems more than obvious we needed Kessler on Embiid more. Even Dok would have been better for a little bit. But even with Embiid big scoring night we just needed some offense at the end and not terrible shot selections and turnovers from Clarkson and Conley. Then on top of that the whistle was not going our way and when it did we shot poorly from the FT line. We make our FTs and we might have won this game. There was a lot of factors going on.
I really hate the "There were other factors" argument because it could be applied to literally any loss ever.

Obviously there were other factors. But there was one very very very massive one that had an extremely obvious potential solution and the Jazz didn't even try it.

I'll buy the "other factors" argument more once the extremely glaring one isn't so glaring.

Here is what I'm PO'ed about. Dok is a graduate of Kansas as is the Sixers superstar that fried us and roughly the same size. 59 points and +25 in the box. Could Dok have done worse? The same thing happened last night. Their big is killing us and let's not try something different. Heck Kofi could have matched up decently but we don't offer him a deal. Grrrrr!!!!!!!

I’m fairly confident in saying we win this game if we put Kessler on Embiid in the 4th.

Ya I’m really impressed with Kessler- were only 14 games in but you probably gotta start wondering how far his rookie legs will take him. It’s a loooong season.

Kessler only got 12 mins and Doka got 0 with Embiid going off? Hmmm

Gotta get better shooting and scoring out of our scoring backcourt. 19 pts on 5-22 shooting is going to cut it.

Yes....... regardless what the question ever is Dok could do worse. Should've just rolled with more Kessler, simple as that.

I would have tossed Kessler out there just to see what happens. Couldn't have gone any worse.

I am going to assume that Hardy had a reason. At this point he has earned some benefit of doubt.

I'm fairly certain he isn't stupid, even though I would have tried Kessler. In general, however, they have tried to hide Kessler from MVP type guys. It's a developmental decision and what they are doing has mostly worked thus far, so. . .

I agree with that. He run a lot, create some space for himself but a PG who can't pass well is not a good PG. But he is young and hopefully can inprove.
If he was 6'6 it wouldn't be an issue, but it's just hard to have a positive impact playing his style at 6'1.

The poor offense was a bigger factor to me that Embiid scoring a bunch. We shot 39% from the field and couldnt make anything we shot barely over 50% from the FT line.. 76ers also sucked on offense, we just sucked more. All we needed was to make a couple shots in the final few minutes. So yeah other factors is a thing for this one, Fatigue is a huge one for this game. Rotations were slow, shots came up short everywhere that was a giant glaring problem. Embiid and the 76ers scoring 105 which is below there average and pretty poor showing offensively isnt the biggest factor in this one.

Shocking Hardy did absolutely nothing in the 4th on Embiid.

Truly baffled.

Will took out Vanderbilt and put in Olynyk trying to space the floor. Embiid stayed near the paint and stuffed our guys anyway. I think the goal was to try to pull Embiid out and give guys like Sexton and Lauri some room to drive. Didn't happen though.

Kinda funny that most of us wanted them to tank last month.

Now we are all pissed about losing a close game in Philly on the 2nd night of a back to back on the road against one of the better teams in the EC.

FWIW Jazz have played 15 games which is the most in the NBA. 10 of those games have been on the road. I would say they have a reason to be a little tired.

Hardy probably should've tried something different(Kessler?) against Embiid. He also destroyed the Hawks last night so the Jazz weren't the only team to get cooked this weekend.
