Stifle Tower

Punch Bowl Re-Filler
Well, after saying I was probably NOT going to renew my LP subscription due to the strike, the Jazz fan in me won out and I just got through shelling out $169 for League Pass on Dish. Frankly, I was surprised at the price given 20% fewer games, but the possibility of seeing a superstar-in-the-making in Favors, along with watching the development of Burks, Haywar, Kanter and hopefully the continued strong play of Millsap was just too much to resist.

For me, it's all about the Jazz, as I rarely watch more than a few minutes of other games. Well, because of our draft possibilities. I did watch a lot of Knicks games down the stretch 2 years ago - and the same with NJ last season, pulling for them to lose. Lakers and Clippers are local teams for me, so I can get most of their games without LP. I will probably watch a few Clippers games this season. And if the Lakers start losing, fourth quarters are going to be fun to witness, with Kobe in full pout and Artest in near-meltdown. Guess I should also tune in to Sacramento now and again to see if Jimmer-mania is still going strong.

So, did any of you hesitate before renewing LP, or not renew for this season? And if you renewed, or are a new subscriber, do you watch a lot of other games or usually just the Jazz.

Never understood why people buy League Pass when there are like 5+ websites that stream the games for free

Pretty simple really, have all games in HD at the click of my remote on my big screen, or have to click through 5+ websites looking for a decent stream, constantly clicking the little red x on those ads that pop up. Hmmmm, obviously if the price was out of control like 300 or 400, I would probably learn to live with the streams and hook up my laptop via HDMI to my bigscreen, but for $169 i'll save myself the season long headache.

Don't get me wrong, i'm pissed the price didn't come down more, but I still think it is a good value for the amount of basketball i'll watch this year.

This is why I'm thinking of getting LP broadband (I don't have cable). It's a much better picture than any stream - especially when I hook it up to my tv with an hdmi cable.

The League Pass broadband is so much better than it was last year, pretty much HD quality streams and without the annoying banner on the top of the screen that was constant last year. It currently also has a free preview through January 8th.

Those streams aren't usally good quality, you can't replay the game, rewind to watch a play over etc.

The streams are good as a last resort, but no real fan goes with those unless they can't afford LP.

Apple TV added LP. I will be purchasing broadband this year. I live in Utah, they don't black out Jazz games right?

because piracy is WRONG

would you steal a car?
would you steal a phone?
would you steal a free night from a hooker?

no
piracy is wrong.

they tell it every time to the customers buying dvd's with an annoying unskippable intro

couldnt get it as nbalp broadband is only option for me at $219.

spent a big part of the money already on ufc, because I thought there would be no season.

tried to convince my better half to buy nbalp. but could not convince her

Would a car stop for you on the freeway?
Are phone companies, and their contracts honest?
Would a hooker steal from you?

I don't have cable or satellite either. I would love to get LP broadband and hook it up to my tv, but I live in Utah also, but I believe the Jazz are blacked out. I might try to register from a proxy (I think that's one way around it).

I would be extremely interested in a way to get league pass on Apple TV but not have the Utah issues. This would mean I could ditch my cable. :P

I'm in Seattle so no ability to watch the Jazz on cable except for the rare national appearances. I'm watching the Timberwolves and Thunder right now and the quality is excellent for League Pass. Expensive but worth it for me. The online streams are only good as a last resort.

According to this it looks like it's not blocked.

I got the free week trial. I'll report back.

Interesting. I based my last answer off that same page. Because you will have a Utah ISP then Utah games will be blacked out, no?

Our system uses this information to confirm your location and to restrict access to regionally televised and*national televised*games.

Did not purchase League Pass, never have. NFL Sunday Ticket yes - League Pass No. Mainly because I am local here in Utah and get all the games anyways :)

actually LP for TV only has 1 or 2 HD games a night... BS!

I'm a real Jazz fan & I will NOT pay $169 for a 20% shorten season.
If the NBA wanted to say "thanks for coming back" then they should've lowered the price!!
