2023 NBA Draft Megathread

I think there are 7 guys I'm already pretty sold on... I think the next 6-7 are good shots at being gems... then there are like 5 guys sprinkled in top 20 or so that I'm pretty skeptical on or they just aren't the player types I would be excited about. There will be a few guys that jump into the top 25. Overall I feel pretty solid on the draft. I'd just really like to get the wing that we need or the star we need. I'd trade a pick to move in the 3-7 range to get Whitmore, Miller or a Thompson twin. Don't think those guys fall outside the top 10.

Unfortunately there is not much intel available as to the game plan, expected to be used for this draft yet. We may never know until long after it what it was going in. I guess if they sell at the deadline we will know a little more, but that seems only likely to be parallel moves using picks for recently drafted players instead of hoping ones they like in the coming drafts fall to them.
I think Ainge uses at least 1 of the 3 picks at the deadline to get a player not a player to get a pick, although he may do both.

I think the Jazz's own pick can get up to #8 if the Jazz want to go that route. At #8, the Jazz would have a shot at Ausar, GG, Brandon Miller, Keyonte or Anthony Black. (Wemby, Scoot, Amen, Cam, NSJ will likely be taken by #7.)

T'wolves' pick should probably end up in the 10-13 range, and the Jazz would be able to get a guy like Cason Wallace, Jarace Walker, or Jett Howard if he climbs.

I know we've been happy with Walker Kessler, but if the Jazz want more perimeter defense and stretch shooting to go with paint protection, Kel'el Ware has more to offer than Kessler at this stage. I'm also a fan of the *idea* of Baba Miller as a versatile, stretchy, two-way big.

I'm watching some tape on Jett Howard. I think he could play as a lead guard/initiator if he wants to. He's actually more fluid than Anthony Black, and he has the ball skills. I guess you'd play him as a big guard or wing and play through him on certain possessions depending on who else is on the floor. With his dad being a former player and coach, there is probably more BBIQ than he's showing just yet.

It's a meaningless comparison, but Jett is better on the ball than those Harrison twins were at UK some years back.

Considering Danny Ainge drafted Jaylen Brown with a top-3 pick and allegedly offered multiple FRPs to trade for Justise Winslow, it's likely that Cam Whitmore is high on Danny's list. Whitmore fits that archetype and looks more polished than the other two were entering the draft.

Super rough game for him… I didn’t catch it all but he wasn’t doing a whole lot out there.

I like all the Arkansas guys. Black doesn’t put up tons of stats but I think he’s one of those guys that will be a winner. Walsh has condor wings… he does have a weird gait and Needs to be more confident with his shot but he moves the ball along and plays a pretty mature role for a freshman. Council looks nice too.

Funny Cy doesn't like when one player with alopecia reminded me of another player that had alopecia. Apparently having a similar disease is bad. Never did i say their games where similar in game just that it reminded me of another player that had the same disease.

I can see the Jazz FO liking Cason Wallace a lot. Very good defender, can shoot, and is an efficient shooter. Good size as well.

He also doesn't need to dominate the ball, so the Jazz can play through their wings.

My favorite player in the draft. He won't be the best player but he has as complete of an all around game as anyone in the draft and fits any system. He should be viewed as a must have player and will likely go in the 10-15 range.

He has the chance to be really good. If I'm the jazz my goal is to come out of this draft with GG Jackson, Cason Wallace and Gradey Dick. Trade whatever future picks it takes to make it happen.

GG needs to show he can do this against better competition. He's driving at some poor kid who can't guard him in these clips. We'll see what he looks like trying to score on bigger and better athletes in the SEC.

Along with Gradey Dick, I'm really starting to tune into Jett Howard. I think he has a lot of ability to build on.

He goes top 10... Someone honestly could/should fall in love and take him earlier. I don't care that much about level of competition. You can see how smooth he is and the physical tools... then he like the youngest guy in the draft.

The Jazz need a lot of stuff... but the biggest need we should address is a talented wing. You don't want to get blinders on but GG is a fantastic bet imo. GG, Whitmore, Miller are all guys I'd love to get.
