Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I just looked actually you have a 47.9% chance of landing the 5th pick if you get the worst record in the league. That’s ****ing wild.
Wow. I would have guessed like a 10% chance or something. That would suck to bad lol. Makes me happier that we aren't tanking hard. Good move by the nba to discourage hard core tanking I guess.

Well once the top 4 are handed out by lottery, then they go in record order. So if the worst team misses out on 1-4, they get 5 automatically. Their chances of landing in the top 5 are solid. I am actually surprised their chances of getting #5 isn't 100%, of course factoring in their odds of getting any of the top 4 then getting exactly pick 5 that 47% or whatever makes sense. They have a 100% chance of being in the top 5, let's put it that way.

By the lottery odds tables it looks like records 6 and 7 have the crappiest odds of staying at least within their record, with better odds of finishing at 7 and 8 respectively. After that, from 8 to 14 their best odds are exactly according to their record. Interesting.

Yeah this is why I see no point in being bad on purpose. There are plenty of better avenues to go, like cashing in on all stars who could not contend and fast forwarding a rebuild into a one seaosn retool, like Danny has done here.
I actually like out chances to win a top 4 pick in the case we slip some late season, and are in the 5-9 range more than staying in the top 4 if they tank. Karma has been king if you believe in it, and thge idea the fix is in,wouldn't be that far fetched as it seems, if the Jazz play hard all season but lose a play in, then win the entire ****ing lottery lol

But in Chicago's case anything outside the top 4 would go to Orlando... so a pretty tough bet to base selling off your stars and such.

Would take waaaaaaayyyyy more than just a slip late in the season to get anywhere near 5-8 range... maybe 9... but likely 10/11 is the best/worst we do unless we have horrible injury luck or make some big lose now trades.

They should make a rule that you can't have the #1 pick for two drafts after you have already had it. Or that your odds of jumping into the top 4 are cut in half for two years after you get the #1 pick.

Ok but I can still see it happen, if they do become sellers of key players ,and the new blood returning are not ready to win now, or worse butt heads with Hardy or other players left on the roster.
Overall you are right its not likely but the League is so close other than the bottom dwellers. Their own pick could be 9 or 19 based on 6 wins or losses.

Time is running short and we have too much momentum to do a lose now trade imo. It would have to be something really good. End of the season many teams will "control" their wins and losses in nefarious ways. The time to make up ground (or lose ground) is now. In 10-20 games or so it will be too late.

At this point I think the Minny pick will be more likely to be in the top 10 than our pick. If Edwards or Rudy get hurt or they just blow up because of personality stuff they might struggle mightily. They have already struggled but it could always get worse.

I think ainge would dump conley for a first and garbage salary filler. (a lose now trade)
Thing is that Sexton, NAW, THT, Beasley, Clarkson etc could probably do a good enough job in conleys place that we would still be too good.

Holy ****... Orlando just scored 50 in the first quarter on Atlanta... Coach about to get **** canned... wow.

Is collins hurt? I dont see in the box score for the atlanta game.

Okay, what do you guys think if we promised Rudy we’d make a draft-night deal for him in exchange for him sitting out the rest of the season and going over to Finland to fulfill Lauri’s military obligation?

Ainge is a devious bastard.

Watched some Hornets Pistons cuz I’m a sicko… PJ Washington is thoroughly unimpressive… not sure if he’s checked out or what… just so lifeless. Bey also was bad.
I don't know what it is, but something about Charlotte as a franchise makes it hard for me to believe in their young guys.

Watched some of the Hawks/Magic game, and man I wish Cleveland would have taken AJ Griffin instead of Ochai. He just looks so fluid out there

Latest from Jake Fischer.

The usual suspects

Atlanta has continued its pursuit of Jae Crowder, and a new three-team concept with Utah and Phoenix circled around league executives this week. The Hawks certainly view the Jazz as a potential landing spot for John Collins. But while Utah has signaled a willingness to discuss Jarred Vanderbilt — of known interest to the Suns — and Landry Shamet has often been included in deal frameworks that would send Crowder to Atlanta, this structure appears to be an expired idea that never gained significant traction due to draft pick compensation and other shortcomings.
