Trade Rumors Involving the Jazz

I mean if we are ****** like the rockets it’s like in part because Lauri is sucking. I’m not here for the “he gonna leave us” paranoia on Lauri. His breakout is in part because of the opportunity and coaching here… he also has a young family… he very likely wants to stay here long term.

I agree with TU about lauri wanting to be on a winner though.

We need to pick up Lonzo. This is the inverse of the infection theorem, which says that the more you inflate the value of a guy you want to move, the less you want to move him. Here, the more you deflate the value of a guy you want to obtain, the less you end up wanting to obtain him.

He's supposedly doing a little more work in the gym now... The price should be awfully low. He'd be a huge addition for team tank.

I mean sure... I just don't think we can be as bad as the Rockets or some of the tank teams. We are an accidental play in team already.

Lauri just doesn't strike me as the type to leave after being passed around his first few years in unstable environments... if he is an established all-star and we are a playoff team (every team is it seems) I don't see him pulling a Hayward. He's seen the other side and if he has something good I don't see him bailing unless the situation is amazing.

It serves too many purposes and makes too much sense. We’ve got plenty of guys like Beasley, Vando, KO, etc. who would have some value in a move that could help us with pieces down the road. And teh tank. Ball would be a perfect PG for a Lauri team.

I think it would be a swap of Conley and Ball. I think it helps Chicago a lot even though they have Derozan and Lavine. I think having a manager that can get them all looks would help quite a bit.

These are optimistic assumptions... I hope you are right though

And that would be unwise. Jackson is strictly an expiring. Covington can be useful as a player and possibly trade chip. He also plays a position with no depth and is a massive upgrade over Gay next season. The trade makes us worse this year which is a benefit but it also helps clear away part of the massive log jam of minutes at the guard spot so we can hopefully get all of our young guys consistent minutes.

I disagree with a lot of that. But the worst part of that is having a head case Jackson back especially if we are trying to lose. He would be terrible to have around. Covington isn't useful anymore even more so next year. We already have upgrades over gay (and Covington) on the roster I would rather see, he might just steal more time from young players as well especially after we likely draft multiple guys next year. At least I would prefer Conley helping those guys than taking a teams garbage for him.

What are you smoking. Jackson would be waived immediately. Also to say Covington isn't useful is just stupid. He would immediately be our best perimeter defender.

I'm telling yall... if there is a Conley to the Clips deal Kennard will be coming to Utah.

Whatever we do I'm hoping we relieve some of the logjam we have at the guard position. I'd like NAW to get consistent minutes to make sure we have a better idea of what we have as he goes in to restricted free agency. I also want Agbaji and THT to get consistent minutes.

You haven't seen Covington play in awhile got it.

I would guess that it is more so that you haven't. I don't think there is even a debate that he would be our best perimeter defender. The clippers on the other hand are loaded with those long rangy defensive wings so when they are somewhat healthy he is redundant. Just for ***** though who on our team do you think is a better perimeter defender than Covington?

Me nodding along: "Yes!, Right on!, and OH HELL NO!"

I would like to see what sexton and the jazz can or cant do with sexton playing big minutes as a starter too.

I'm not a THT believer, but I also don't think he's a complete lost cause. We are likely stuck with him for at least another year, so getting him consistent minutes to see what we have might not be the priority.

Mostly, I just enjoy watching all the good and bad that comes with him. In a year where I've stopped caring if we win or lose I appreciate the entertainment.
