What's new

What's the Next Move?

Plan A: Win the lottery and take Wembayama
Plan B: Draft at #7 and #12, take Keyonte George and GG Jackson, respectively.
Plan C: Take Jarace Walker and Jett Howard.
That's it. I'm done.
What about Hawkins?!!!!

Don't think it's a multi year tank. Kind of expect Utah to throw some big money at Kuzma or Grant this off season
Kinda underwhelming to be honest. And thats assuming either would even choose us over other teams that throw big money at them.

Fish just let me get to the end of the day and I will let everyone know what the plan is… stay patient and vigilant I will get this sorted out for us. Just a sec Monty and Mike are FaceTiming me.

People seem to think that the roster for this upcoming multiyear tank will be, essentially: Lauri, Kessler, some bad two-way guys and some more or less useless kids fresh off the draft. I only exaggerate a little.

That's not how a tank works. If you really take the plunge, you have to dive all the way to the bottom. That means keeping a 26-year-old, super efficient All Star on the roster doesn't make any sense. It's just wasted capital that could be used to bring in guys who fit the timeline of the rest of the team better.

If Lauri was 22 or even 23, the situation would be totally different. But he'll be 26 in a few months, and his trade value is off the charts right now. Almost franchise-changing.

Everyone seems to be counting on Markkanen to play nice - to suffer through the tank in silence and then sign an extension. But the fact is that he just got to Utah. He has no real ties, no history, no reason for loyalty. It's a huge decision to waste your prime as a player. You only get one.

The "Trade Lauri" train starts here. Get on board.
Classic overreaction post.

Remember how nearly every year we had to change point guards? We didn't get stable at the point guard position until we got Conley. Loosing Conley is going to take a long time to get stable again unless we can find a special player. It is going to take a miracle to get that level of play back.

No it won't. Conley was solid but not a high level pg. We can hopefully fill that hole immediately in the draft with Cason Wallace.

His salary this year minus the vet minimum most likely. If we saved a couple extra million on top that would be gravy.
It should be really easy... if he won't give close to the pro-rated minimum then you just let him know he can stay home and rot. He will want a buyout before the playoff eligibility date... and if we make it easy for him it shouldn't be an issue. So Ryan saves a couple bucks.

A couple potential Clarkson teams:

Milwaukee - Allen and Beauchamp
Memphis - Green and a pick
New Orleans - Hayes/Temple/pick
Golden State - Wiseman and Moody
Philadelphia - Korkmaz/Thybulle/Milton/pick
