2023 NBA Draft Megathread

This is going to be interesting. Historically, Danny Ainge drafts 2-way players. Everyone on the Celtics plays defense. Everyone rebounds. Everyone moves the ball. Its going to be interesting to see how Ainge looks at Jett Howard and possibly Sensabaugh as well. Right now, Jett doesn't mix it up and compete for rebounds. He plays some positional defense, but doesn't always give total effort on that end. I wonder if that means Ainge won't draft him.
He shipped out Beasley at the first opportunity for a bag of Dorritos. I think that is probably a clue. Danny wants length, athleticism, and grit. Taking a flier on THT like we did is likely a pattern as well.

I actually remember a few jazz fanzers who wanted us to draft him.

I loved Giannis. Still remember that DL was one of the first NBA execs to go over to watch him in person. Thought the Jazz were for sure going to draft one of the high upside Euro prospects that year.

My favorite five players that year were Giannis, Steven Adams, Rudy, Dennis Schroder and CJ McCollum.

I was so pissed that they traded both picks to move up for Trey Burke (who was one of my three least favorite players that year) and then really excited that they moved up to snag Gobert.

I was pissed we moved up to draft burke as well. I wanted McCollum. I also liked schroder.

I was listening to the draft on the radio while i was camping. That trade to take burke (who i thought would be horrible) ruined my camping trip

Same here. I remember watching the draft that year on the treadmill, and fell off it when they announced Burke.

A first rounder a bag of Doritos?

The only clue Danny has given us is that he values first rounders.

THT really not a clue. He was just available talent that could be matched for Beverly.

Sidy could definitely be a first rounder. He's one of the best defensive wings in the draft, 18 years old, great size/athleticism, and is still 18 years old.

One of the Locked on Draft (Richard Stayman) had him at the back end of his lottery in his latest big board.

It is hard not to like his upside and fit with our team. We clearly lack some long defensive wings and his 3pt stroke looks smooth even though he doesn't shoot it at a high percentage. He isn't the athlete Andrew Wiggins is but I can see him thriving in similar role.

Jerrace Walker could be added. Monster defender who seems to be finding his offense.

Definitely miller I have him as my #2 prospect

I am not as high on the twins as most are. Love the athletism but am concerned about shooting.

Couple thing I worry about when it comes to prospects.

- Lacks shooting
- doesn't play a lot of defense
- hot and cold motor
- low basketball IQ

These things have sunk a lot of careers. The defense can be worked around but I want the jazz to be a monster defensive team. I am tired of no perimeter defense.
The twins are working full-time at basketball and the shooting is not improving. I give college players a break here over the g league guys. For the college guys I would highly value free throws as that is a skill in limited time in college should be working on. Find a gem there.

If you think Beasley was the centerpiece of that trade you are more delusional than normal. Lakers paid a protected first to swap Wesbrook for Russell and a couple of bench pieces. We value Beasley and Vando more than that, but I don't think they do. If we could have got a straight up first for Beasley, we would have taken that deal instead.

I think a team reaches and grabs a Thompson twin or two in the top 6, which is fine with me. I'll bet it is Charlotte because that makes absolutely no sense for them.

I think at least one of the twins will go in the top 6....I'm not buying into their OTE performance, but they could have a good workout and get drafted high. Quite honestly, the reason I have them in the tier they are at is all due to hype which is admittedly a bad way to do this. I think I'd be pretty disappointed if we drafted one of twins over Coulibaly/Black/George.

I wouldn't say taking either twin in the top 6 is a reach. Both of them are really talented. Shooting is the big issue for both but if they can show some improvement during workouts then teams will have a hard time passing on them.

Has anyone smart written any words on the Bilal dude?
Not that I've seen. I havent seen when his and Wemby's team has played lately but from what I've seen hes come on strong lately, which could help is draft momentum continue. And then see what he does in workouts.
