Official Utah/Minnesota/Philadelphia Pick Watch

I’m pretty sure this isn’t true. If the Pelicans beat the Knicks and the Timberwolves win out they are ahead of them if I’m not mistaken.
Wolves aren’t losing to the Spurs, which means that the Pelicans need to at least win against the Timberwolves in the last game to avoid getting overtaken.

Twolves would win the tie-breaker over the Pels if the Wolves beat the Pels on the last day of the season. So that last game will determine it.

If NO wins and Wolves lose to SA then it’s clinched. Now we might say there is no way they lose to SA buuuutttt… they are 5-10 versus the bottom 5 teams. They are capable of anything.

LOL. Knicks aint winning anything in the playoffs. Cleveland either. So jazz have no playoff success this year, knicks have no playoff success this year, and cleveland have no playoff success this year. Difference is jazz have a better draft pick, more draft picks, and more money to spend.
Jazz win.
It’s wild Knicks fan fiction. “Yes they got an all nba player, Sexton, and a bunch of draft picks. But they won 3 too many games so the Mavs are in way better shape.”

Woof

While I agree with this, we really did kind of botch the tank. We should have been in the bottom 6 but we are kind of on the outside looking in. I still think we can turn our assets into some great pieces, but the tank was a dud.

The thing I'd hate about that is that we'd probably end up with a bottom 6 pick based on order, but with the odds just end up doing nothing but moving back. For instance, the #6 spot has a 34.8 change of moving up, a 56.6% chance of moving back, and 8.6% chance of staying the same.

Though I guess currently we still stand a larger chance of moving back than up, but seems like it'd be a much bigger bummer to drop from the top end. Hopefully we move up and don't have to worry about it and get the best of both worlds.

If the Knicks offered a better package, then it gets done. End of story on that front.

On the topic of DA’s nose, I agree it’s mostly gone. Overall, he’s made some good fallback moves (Cleveland more so, LA less so), but he got cliffed out twice this year thinking he had the Knicks and Lakers by the balls and just didn’t.

I’m basically certain the Jazz could’ve gotten better return doing a Lakers deal before the season and the Jazz would surely have won 4 fewer games.

DA figuratively looking like Voldemort, IMO. Which is fitting.

There’s a tier drop-off at 7 (or maybe 8), so… IDK, kinda would rather have certainty of being in there than flailing just to stay at 9 (with a sliver of hope at 8) and a fraction of the relative lottery odds.

The other thing about this tank that I’m not a fan of is pulling shenanigans and debasing everyone involved. I’m obviously for it, ultimately, but that’s cuz DA ****ed around for 2/3 of the season.

Not ENTIRELY wrong, but to say the Jazz’s season is more disappointing than the Maverick’s is so bad it might be a typo.

Who’s had a worse season than the Mavericks?
The Wolves maybe. But that is about it. Those have to be in the top 5 most disappointing seasons this year. I would say Brooklyn then Dallas then the Wolves then the Lakers, considering expectations heading in to the season and the reality of where they ended up.
